I would buy one if they had a retailer here i don't fancy buying from ebay and then not having any comeback.

You can buy an invite from ebay for $4-7 and then buy the phone directly from their site (like I did)

edgeprod 12-21-2014 10:28 AM

I thought it didn't need an invite anymore .. ?

good question - not sure if even they know

they are developing their own ROM - first of all to replace Color OS for China and to have something for India...

Will they completely replace Cyanogen? no idea

I hope they do, maybe they'll release it as the OS for the oneplus two. As much as I like cm (I've been running it on several devices for years now), I've felt like it was the weak link in what is overall a fantastic device in the oneplus.

I do think it made sense to launch with CM it makes much more sense IMO to bring that dev in-house, especially with how slow CM is the update when android makes big updates, I bet it will be quite a while until cm launches a stable build lollipop based OS.

I'd have snagged a oneplus instead of this nexus 6 but I truly need as big a screen as possible, due to my vision.

dyna mo 12-21-2014 01:22 PM

looks like some versions of cm12 ROM are available for the oneplus 1, warning: nothing stable

MaDalton 12-21-2014 01:27 PM

yeah, i have no hurry..

currently it runs 4.4.4 without issues, i read that Lollipop still has problems, so i am not too eager to update quickly

and they had promised to release a 5.0 version within 3 months after the official launch - we'll see

and in general: some of the CM modifications make sense but 5.0 covers a lot of them - i think i could live either way - the quality of the hardware is still great

How to cancel that annoying small vibrate when typing a text? (for each letter)
How to cancel the auto-correct?

Also, I thought that the battery will have much longer time then it has... but when running few apps and texting etc, nothing special, the battery is running very low

the battery needs a few cycles before it has full capacity, mine easily runs for 2 days with normal usage

the rest you can find in the keyboard settings, its sunday and i am too lazy to get up and switch mine on to write it down step by step ;)

warranty would be a better issue, getting it is a minor one :2 cents:

Give it a day and the differences blend away. We have a few iPhones here in the family and I am the tech guy so I use both. The differences are minor.

That new commercial about sending "voice texts" iPhone has out slays me. My phone has the same thing. Even better, my voice mail..... Is now put into text so I can read it - no more dialing in to listen to someone's voice. I can read my voicemail like a text message.

Something iPhones have had for quite some time now. :1orglaugh

See how that works?

Yeah, alreday getting used to it. really great phone. i'm not used to such a load of features and options, unlike the iPhone. the slo-mo video option is so awesome! haha

Settings > Language & Input > Android Keyboard (AOSP)

You can turn off the vibrate and auto correct from the above location ...

lollipop doesn't have any problems that a factory reset doesn't clear up, unless you are talking about the cm version of it, which I'm not familiar with. Even so, it's fun to flash custom ROMs and check them out, after the Christmas I'll prolly flash the CM version of android 5 and check it out .

curiosity killed the cat, I've bricked a # of devices unlocking/rooting them, but I've learned a lot at the same time. and had a bit of fun. but yeah smart phones are made for using them not for flashing experimental ROMs every nightly.
