Easiest way to screen-cap a movie still in XP?
Just want to do a Photoshop still shot for a little movie I did in Prague... Print-Screen is not working for some reason when I paste into photoshop the movie image is gone -- same shit happens with Quicktime... Anyone know the solution?
For info about the movie see this thread if yer intersted http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showth...hreadid=115781 |
The reason is copyright protections in the players. One approach is to download a crappy little shareware or freeware player off cnet and screencapture from that. Can't remember the one i used.

Get a little program called SnagIt and read the instructions - to grab screen caps from video you'll need to go into (I think) Capture -> Advanced -> DirectX.
Works like a fuckin' charm. There are also other programs that will do everything you need (convert, edit, screen caps etc.) all-in-one, if you're interested in a cheap one check out Video Edit Magic. A little more expensive (but really PACKED with features) is Pinnacle's Studio 8. |
you can open .mpg, .avi etc files with imageready

also with Quicktime PRO you can export as .bmp

Open 2 movie players...print screen...paste....1 will show up.

wmv sucks.

The totally impractical way:
Open a pc anywhere connection to a computer playing the movie in windows media player. Now screenshots work fine. |

I thought u were going to say I need to open up my computer and tear out the innards... |
Its nothing to do with anti-piracy, just turn off your video hardware acceleration temporarily:
Control Panel -> Display ->Settings-> Advanced -> Troubleshoot then turn Hardware Accel down to zero. G |
Holy shit -- I copy the movie file and XP tries to get through my firewall... WOw they are really going to try to catch copyright infringers...

Too simple. Start any Quicktime movie. Start Grab. Capture-->Screen. You are done. Works the first time, everytime.
