Any MAME Enthusiasts, familiar with DOS commands in the house?

I know its a long shot, but I'm trying to help out a friend. He has made the following post on an arcade forum - I cant help, cause although I have the mame roms, I'm on iMac, and don't have a PC anymore...

Hi

I wanted to use some Robotron sounds for my mame cab for boot up, start game etc and have been scouring the net for some samples. Found a few but not the ones I really wanted so came across this link to enable you to extract all the sounds from a game.

[tuto] Ripping MAME sounds

MAME E2J - Downloads

However, Robotron is not one of the games that comes up on the list once you've downloaded all the files and run the software so was wondering if anyone has a set of sound files for each of the different sounds in the game that they could post here or email me please?

I'm also aware that I could potentially (if I could work out how) record the sounds from within mame and have been advised to use

mame robotron -wavwrite robotron.wav

but no idea how to do this within mame (using mame 32 as a front end) as nowhere to be able to type in the command. If it's through dos then getting beyond my limited PC knowledge.

I know that Robotron has sound samples in the test menu but these are generic Williams not specific to Robotron gameplay.

Many thanks in advance for any help.
Can anyone here do it for him? If you could, I'd be grateful. I don't have any other info, aside from the above, so if it makes sense to you, and its something you could do easily that would be great. However, If not, no worries - I'm just trying to help him out :thumbsup

Simpler just to paste that vid link into getvid.com, extract the mp3 from that and then cut it up with whatever sound editing program you have handy.
