Jeep Grand Cherokee

Any thoughts on the Jeep Grand Cherokee? Thinking about getting one, was going to get a Toyota 4Runner but Toyota has been such a HUGE disappointment for us... I am not giving them another buck.

I have a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo and I love it.

This is a "go anywhere, do anything" SUV for me. It's great for driving around town, great for long trips, can haul the family and the gear, and I have no fear of going anywhere because mine has the full time four wheel drive. I have the six banger so it's good (enough) on gas, and I can drive 450 miles on one tank. It's very comfortable.

I thought I was silly having the four wheel drive, but it's come in handy twice - Once while meeting someone at the lake (they said "go until the pavement ends, then make a left and continue on for two miles") and once at a campground where I had to take a logging road. (The above pix are from that lake trip.) While I don't four wheel with my Jeep, I love how I never fear going off pavement with it.

Truth be told however Jeep reliability is at the bottom of the list, right next to Jaguar and Range Rover.

I like the Dodge Durango version better. It's more man and less soccer mom. I almost grabbed one but got an amazing deal on a Buick that I couldn't pass up.

They're both nice though!

I have owned 3 Love them. They are only good to about 120k miles though FYI. But I will definitely buy another one as they are perfect for me.

Oh cool. I just looked at the diesel version, $75k CAD.

I got a 2011 JGC Overland with the 5.8 Hemi. Thing is beastly. Also have a 97 I use for offroading. Love the Grands.

This is Lake Far West in Placer County, California, near Sacramento. With the drought.... Not much of a lake these days. More like a long pond.

I have 06 grand cherokee great in the snow if you live in cold weather place like me.

MrBottomTooth 01-10-2015 03:46 PM

Buddy had the diesel and eventually sold it because he couldnt afford to keep fixing it. Lots of sensor issues and constant nickel and dime stuff.

something to think about gas prices can go up as quickly as they came down. And the usually go up quicker

candyflip 01-11-2015 06:41 AM

The new ones are NOTHING like the old ones. It's a completely new vehicle. That's probably worth noting.
