Warning: the movie 'Brick'

Sometimes i check imdb when i want to watch a movie, and Brick Brick (2005) - IMDb
sounded ok, also judging by the 7.5 rating. And i like movies that are somehow weird or generally unknown.

First time in years i didn't watch a movie until the end. It's amateurish, childish and the most pretentious piece of shit i've ever seen - not exaggerating. With rapidly growing annoyance i got through the first 30 minutes when the point was reached that i had to shut it off. I can't remember the last time I shut off a movie before it ended, so that means it's really, really bad.

Next time consider the movies with rating 8 and above!

Hm I remember that movie, it was definitely something different.. but can't decide if it was good or bad..

It's one of the only movies I didn't make it to the end of also...and I always give movies a chance. But the director's later movie, Looper is awesome. Check that one out.

also a warning about any nicholas cage movie especially the recent ones...your brain will bleed :2 cents:

Never heard of it ...

fappingJack 01-14-2015 06:44 AM

Thanks dude. Nice warning.

PR_Glen 01-14-2015 06:50 AM

do you like any movies?

This is one of my favourite movies of all time. I agree that it certainly comes across as pretentious but it was a great modernisation of film noir with some really funny dark undertones.

It seems odd that at 1st that there would be film noir set within a high school but it's the perfect setting considering the school hierachy keeps it all tight knit, insestuous and claustrophobic yet allows for the diversity of character and ease of understanding narrative through their stereotypes.

i simply cannot fathom that this would be anyone's favorite movie, but im glad you liked it :winkwink:
The concept just doesnt work (for me), it's a nice idea on paper but watching it it's like kids playing cops and robbers with a camera. I just couldn't take it seriously as a movie at all. Like watching a high school play.

Side note, a very good movie i watched recently is Nightcrawler. Loved this one. If Brick is one of your favourites of all time, you desperately need to watch the hundreds of better movies, Brick wouldn't be in your list anymore. You'll thank me :1orglaugh

I remember reading about it at the time but decided not to watch it, although I like Joseph Gordon-Levitt's acting and movies.
