Sorry gas heads : Watch an electric car destroy a 791 HP Challenger Hellcat
Sorry gas heads : Watch an electric car destroy a 791 HP Challenger Hellcat
Bahahahahhaha.... |
the challenger doesn't know how to drive his car...
|
pretty obvious the green thing is driven by an idiot

Ha, couldn't get it out of 1st gear.
|
My toddler gets off the line better than the challenger did.
|
I think the better question is why Dodge painted that fucker bright green?
|
The tesla will take a maclaren off the line.

AWD with electric motors that produce full power at 1RPM or RWD with way too much power that needs time to get into the power-band. Electric FTW

What happens over 120?
|
Where's the drag race video with the Volt?
|
You don't need to be a physics major to understand the massive difference in the torque generated by an electric motor vs gas.
|
It's well documented that an electric powered car can severely outrun a fossil fuel powered car on the dragstrip. It has been done many times.
|
It's probably worth mentioning the Tesla is almost double the price of the Hellcat at over 120k. Plus with the addition of drag radiaks and a decent driver the hellcat is a 10.7 second car.

mid-late 90s I bought a cab 968 in pink with purple interior for the wife. The most embarrassing car I have ever driven. (picture me and a buddy stopped at a traffic light by road workers in south London) ;) The wife thought it was lovely.. ;) |

i have seen combinations like that and those are the moments you wish Porsche would not do everything their clients want :1orglaugh :error |

Mark,
The video (removed of bad driving skills) is a prime example of compairing apples to oranges. The video would have had more meaning had the Tesla S lost... It has considerable advantage in weight, drag, etc as well as being AWD and traction control etc... Compared to the heavy, rwd, car with the drag coefficient of a cardboard box... If you would like to compare a car that is close to the Tesla S I'd suggest the GTR... Tesla Model S vs Nissan GTR Drag Race - TESLARATI.com Even with a considerable reaction time on the light the Tesla is not a real match a gas powered equivalent. |
It is not bad driving skills (besides the start, what was that - did he react on time and faster than tesla, but made some technical mistake or did he react too soon and decided to stop?), something major happened to him (no higher gears?) so pretty pointless to even discuss that.
|
apparently yall didnt notice the charger fouled thats why the hesitation at the start he had already lost
not saying the tesla wouldnt win but it would have been a lot closer... |

Apparently , between the blown kisses etc , I could decipher that it seems there was some debate over which one of us was the girl in the relationship ;-)) My mate was an older gentleman of the showmen profession (a pikey) and was not amused lol. He suggested they refrain from discussing the matter further less there be a "fucking row " , during which time he claimed "he would beat them unmerciful". I believe this resolved the debate ......... as they were now agreed..... I was the girl :( ;-))) LOL ...we never drove that car again LOL |

Tesla would have won the race even if the challenger did not fail on the start. It says alot about electric cars potential.
Lets just wait for the technology to evolve and mature and we will have something really good instead of gas powered cars. |
It's all about torque. Electric car has the advantage of instant torque, and it's lighter.
I am not impressed by car speeds any more. Jeep makes a Cherokee that does 0 - 60 in under five seconds... |

Anyway, it doesn't really matter too much, because who the winner is in any race, can be argued. You could say that in your video, the GTR won the race, which it did. If you're a nerd like me though, I would say "maybe, sure, but the Tesla is still cooler". EV Cars are fast, quiet, more energy efficient, higher tech, blah blah blah blah... Taking Tesla out of the equation for a minute, if you race an EV Car against a Mustang for example, The Mustang will probably win, but wasting a lot of energy to do it. Hence, to me, EV is "cooler" and always "wins". Peace. |

The truth is, both cars are fast, but the Tesla, to me, is cooler and graceful. Quote:

i so love the color green, so i dont mind the color at all :)

If the time of the electric car was 10 seconds then it would be worth posting.
|
On a secondary note, the electric car needed to recharge for 4 hours after the race, while the dodge was driven home right after.... LOL
. |
Best production TeslaS time that I could find was a 12.8. The Hellcat had a 10.4. So this is more about bad (read really really really bad) driving on the part of the Hellcat owner. If anything the video shows how much better AWD is at putting power to the ground than RWD alone, and that's about it.

Even lower priced cars like anything with the Ford ECOboost motor is higher tech than EV. smart diesel, etc. plenty of high tech ICE in 2015. |
The guy in the green car has no driving skills whatsoever.

I guess we can forget that the bases of your post was about an EV destroying a gas car... This is what we call back peddling... How about we take a road trip me in a gas car you in your EV.. Say MTL to Halifix... How many days will that take you should take me less than 18 hours... I have nothing against EV cars they are great commuter cars. But they are not as green as you seem to think they are. Where do you think the power comes from? To meet the power demand of a shift to EV cars what do you think would need to happen to buildup the power grid? Copper wire doesn't grow in a farmers field. How about the different parts that go into making the car. When you start to factor in the big picture your nice carbon foot print does not seem so green. Add to it the disadvantages EV's currently have and what would be needed to compensate for them... |
