Not long ago Gov Scott Walker was taunting his big tax cuts, telling everyone that it would inspire job growth as the rich trickle down their wealth to the lower tiers. Yes as it seems some never learn, try as they might over and over this trickle down theory always crashes and burns.. Just like the state budget in Wisconsin after his tax cuts..

The state now faces major shortages in their budget, but wait they know right where to get the money.. As Pink Floyd might say.. "We don't need no education".. (but it seems they need "thought control")

Yep the floundering budget shortfalls after Walker's tax cuts, will now come right from higher education in the form of a $300 million dollar cut to state education...

Don't you guys think that taking your money and giving it to greedy lifetime bureaucrats may not be the wisest move? They already spend more than they take in (most of us would call that irresponsible). And yet with all the money they take in...there are still homeless people, poor people, infrastructure crumbling, etc.

But those lifetime bureaucrats? They don't miss any meals, they live in big nice houses, they get full medical benefits, and they drive nice cars.
And they funnel money to all of their cronies.

I can't believe that anyone would want MORE taxes. Of course the percentage of people in the general population who get govt. money and don't pay much in taxes are all for taxing people more. Doesn't cost them a penny.

But why on Earth would any of you on this forum want that? I can only assume that all of you are professionals who earn money and pay taxes. And I also believe that all of you have eyes to see and aren't blind to the amount of money the govt. takes in via taxation in all forms.

It's very simple to understand that as a civilized society, we have to have a govt that takes care of certain things.. As a civilized society we have learned the certain things like "education", fire departments, roads, police forces and lots of people to take care of these things are necessary..

It seems rather than be a fascist state where the govt controls all oil production, gas and other forms of making money, we instead have to pay taxes. Yes it's a shame that people whom live in a civilized society have to pay a little money. basic math is more like this: you are a program owner and have some affiliates sending you joins, you split the $$ with them 50/50, everyone is happy

democrats come along and figure: "if we raise our percentage to 60 and give the affiliate 40 we'll make more $$"... great in theory, but reality is many affiliates will figure "fuck that", and move to a different program that pays them a fairer %... aka moving their company offshore...

look, you run an affiliate program and it's not doing so well... what do you do? raise your cut to 60%? long term will realistically anything good come out of that move? or perhaps do the opposite run a 60% promotion for affiliates, which will hopefully attract more business for your program?

2. No, he's one of the most protested governors because Ed Shulz and MSNBC got behind the one protest a couple of years back when Walker broke the govt. union. Which is what President Franklin Delano Roosevelt specifically said that govt. employees must NEVER be able to unionize because they work for the people.

As far as what Walker has done or not done in Wisconsin...I have no idea. I don't even know the makeup of the legislature. And as far as I'm concerned he's nothing more than just another lifetime/career politician/bureaucrat/crook.

My only question is: WHY would you want to give him even MORE money by taxing hard working people? Especially since you obviously hate him because he's a republican?

Perhaps if we weren't spending so much on useless wars we might save a buck or two. How much does defense get compared to education or healthcare? There are our priorities and there are politician's priorities. Right now, the middle class is getting the short end of the stick. Without taxes to pay for our roads, parks, highways, medicare, education, and the good things the government actually does provide for us, we would be at the whim of the "market". The oligarchs will have won.

Hundreds of billions of dollars could be freed up from that to take care of the poor in our own country and to build our infrastructure and balance the budget.

I don't think you realize what has happened. Walker (and others), promised low taxes to get elected. They also gave huge tax breaks to their campaign donors. They cut taxes so much that now they cannot afford to pay their bills. This has happened in several states, not just walkers.

This means no money for public utilities like water, food, transportation, health, police, fire, etc.

Sure no one wants to pay sky-high taxes and sure some tax money will be used for evil instead of good, but the problem that Walker has created is huge. If he gets away with it and somehow becomes president, who's to say he won't do exactly the same thing?

You even argue like the Republicans you say you are not...

All of the politicians suck, regardless of party. They all spend money. Everyone for the most part is acting in a self-interested way. They need to get elected, they can't do that without raising money and owing political favors all around town.

I think it's incredibly distateful to want to spend $220M on an arena and then try and cut education by $300M. Just shows that hes a piece of shit. And I can cite numerous examples of Republicans raising taxes or spending $ they don't have.

Democrats are just as bad. They'll cite the need for more 'revenue' for good-hearted reason XYZ. I love how they call it 'revenue' when for the tax payer its a 'cost.' Imagine that, them saying they are going to raise people's costs, doesn't sound so good does it, and it shows you it's an us vs them mentality (politicans vs the public).

So long as the money increases from the people to them, we are empowering these idiots on both sides of the aisle. Regardless of what they get, the money will always be spent, and the results will almost always be marginal to shit, because there is no accountability. Money on it's own doesn't solve problems, and once the money is acquired, there's nothing preventing it from being spent in poor, inefficient ways and that is exactly what happens. You're not going to give a 16 year old a Ferrari and expect him to be a good driver. Think about the analogy.

I've resigned myself to this and the only thing that's left is what smart people are doing, and that's to legally minimize your tax burden as much as you can, something politician's don't seem willing to acknowledge is a reality in their proposals. You can argue about what is ideologically right or wrong, but for a lot of people, this money is real, and they vote with their feet and actions.

The politicians are the criminals, not the tax payers. I can tell you I am tired of every year politicians getting more and more in my pocket for reason X, reason Y, reason Z. We need this, we need that, we need more of this, we need more of that. We should run elections after tax day and see who gets elected.

No one "raised" anything.. He cut taxes to the point the state couldn't pay their bills. How is it you come up with this "raised" their part non sense? Scott Walker cut taxes but the expenses stayed the same therefore less revenue meant they could no longer pay the bills.

I don't know why you guys keep on with this "more" taxes thing.. The taxes were at X level.. Walker cut the taxes for more of the "trickle down" bullshit. The "trickle down" didn't work just like it never does and as such the state now comes up short on money needed for their budget..

Added to this, he's giving 200 million of the state's money to a sport's team for a stadium while cutting 300 million from education.. Does that make sense to you?

And by cutting the taxes that deficit budget became a surplus.

The last link on the budget was posted on Jan 23rd.. That's less than 10 days ago.. There is no surprise billion dollars that you are creaming your pants over.. He claimed at the start of the year there would be a surplus but it didn't happen.. He was "WRONG".

The links you posted were from January 2014 This is January 2015 His billion dollar excess "DID NOT" happen.. They collected much "LESS" than he projected after his tax cuts..

This article seems to suggest that the governor is simply borrowing large amounts of money in order to help fill in the budget needs.

Cutting taxes is great, but if they are making up for those tax cuts with large loans eventually those loans are going to have to be paid back.

They are half way through the 2 year budget I posted and have had to cut 300 million from the schools and borrow more money than the state has ever borrowed in its history.. Yet somehow that equates job well done by Walker to you, because you belive in this billion dollar surplus which was nothing but wishful thinking at the start of 2014...

Wisconsin was known for decades as a "high tax" state. The state had deficits.
All under DEMOCRAT rule.

Walker lowered taxes on hard working people. The yearly deficits went away as more people went to work and the tax base broadened.

Is Walker a piece of shit? HELL YES.
Did Walker really do anything to "help" people intentionally. HELL NO.

He should be "one and done" as they all should be. And forced to go back into the economy that he was in charge of and find work himself.
