he Pirate Bay has risen from its digital ashes once again. TPB is back online today, more than seven weeks after its servers were raided . The notorious torrent site is operating from the familiar .se domain and it appears that data loss is minimal.

After being down for two weeks the domain came back online waving a pirate flag on its temporary homepage.

TPB later added a countdown to February 1st, alongside several hints that the site would reappear that day.

Today we can report that The Pirate Bay has lived up to the comeback expectations, with a comeback one day ahead of schedule.

A few minutes ago the site started serving torrents to the masses again, much to the delight of millions of users. The Pirate Bay?s homepage currently features a Phoenix.

I am not a fan of the pirate bay. I was just wondering for tv shows...if the commercials were left in. Would that be a viable sales pitch for ad men on the tv show side. I mean if they could guarantee the commercials played.

They do it here in China. All kinds of shows with the rights bought properly stream online. 90 seconds of commercial per episode.

I am awake of similar things i found on my ipad....but it sucked and never worked.

I wonder why this hasn't replaced tv

For sure. I pay for Netflix, Hulu (which is loaded with ads even after paying) and Amazon...along with Spotify, Google Music and MoviePass.com. Just got my invite for Sling TV and can't wait to have that up and running. Most people will pay if you give them a reasonable way of paying and accessing. That has been proven to be the case time and time again.

Though technically, since I am forced to pay for a basic cable TV package even though I don't pay for their box or actually use the service...my downloading is legal timeshifting.

I don't mind paying for content. And I actually like commercials. :winkwink:

It is still only temporary. The same was being said about Sweden in the earlier days. The laws were changed. Now the owners are all in serious legal trouble, have been on the run from the law and are likely going to prison in defense of their right to enable and profit directly from copyright infringement on a massive scale. Since Moldova has always been actively pursuing EU membership, this obviously is going to get shut down.

Governments can apply pressure in all kinds of ways to other governments. Corruption is the same everywhere corruption exists... and i've dealt with a lot of it. You are always safe to hide and always protected... until you're not.

I spent a large portion of my life living and working in Russia. Moldova is nowhere close to how fucked up Russia is and how it has been since the early 90s.

The US could cut aid to Moldova. I don't know if it will. They are pretty poor.

Now if they are in Transnistria, Which the US doesn't recognize as a separate country......

Trabia CEO says that they don?t host The Pirate Bay anymore. What do the Moldovan authorities say | Moldova.org

"A Moldovan operator of Trabia told us on phone that TPB wasn’t hosted anymore by the company. Later, CEO Sven Wiese informed us by email that the client had announced Trabia in January that it would move out the TPB site from the Trabia network. I think TPB is still there. Some are now saying the TPB is an FBI honeypot. I don't think the FBI would want the press of throwing some sad looking college kid in jail.
