I never watch these shows.

Back in 1999 or 2000, I was invited to appear on the Sally Jesse Raphael show. The topic of the show was about webcams and chat models and adult websites, and how women are becoming empowered. We make an agreement which I accept.

They flew me to New York, picked me up and brought me right to the show along with some others we were working with at the time.

In the "green room" they explain the show, who will be introduced and when, etc. The girls on the show are told they cannot wear the branded shirts and have to change. Not part of the agreement but wtf its too late. We can hear the audience laughing and booing even though the show hasn't started yet - we're told its because they have someone out there getting the audience ready and charging them up.

During the meeting, as the director is laying out the schedule, he says "At this point, we will introduce our mystery guest who will appear on video only, and blah blah blah". I interrupt and say "What Mystery guest? What are you talking about? Who is this?". They refuse to tell us. Again this is minutes before the show.

So now they take us out to the stage, but I refuse to go on and instead just stand to the side, off camera while the others are on.

Then they wheel out Sally Jesse Raphael. She was old and frail and seemed to not know what was going on. It seemed like she was being fed the questions to ask via an ear piece and teleprompter. They had to keep stopping the show to to review what to ask, and coached at least one person on stage on what to say.

Anyway after a few minutes, instead of going for how some of the women on the show were taking charge of their lives and featuring the positive, business aspect of it, the show turned to the bad, using words like depraved, sick, etc, and the audience were booing everyone.

Then the clincher : Sally introduced a guy who was in Jail for being a peeping tom. I don't remember the details of his crime but he was obsessed with the daughter of one of his neighbours.

Completely unrelated to the show and the guests. Completely wrong and stupid. Sally asked the guy "How does it feel to be in jail for doing what you did when today, everyone with a computer modem can do it legally"?

I was stunned and so were the people on stage. Even some of the audience were confused. Of course some morons cheered anyway but was completely ridiculous. After it was over I called the director an asshole.

6 months later the show aired but heavily edited of course, with the site owners and models made to look like nothing more than whores and pimps.

Thats definitely him. He made a post about it on here and explained how they staged everything. Obviously everyone knows the show is fake and scripted, but up until then i never realized they just didnt give a shit at all and used actual actors and told them what character they would be playing that day.

Interesting read.

Thanks for sharin'. :thumbsup

Those trash shows only appeal to the lowest common denominator - simpleton audiences that enjoy a spectacle at the expense of factual reality.
