I'm interested too. I've been traveling for the last few months and have thought about getting one a couple of times.

I think you need one in some countries for lower insurance rates. I put my gopro up for fun sometimes, the quality is great.

We should get one. Its amazing at some of the things we see.

Just have to record without voice :)

I have one in both cars. If anyone tries to break in to the car i have a video of them. Or in case of an accident a useful tool..

Rochard 02-04-2015 03:30 PM

It seems to be common in some countries where driving is more risky and insurance fraud is an issue?

Any newer car in North America (can't speak to other countries) already has what is effectively a black box in it. I can easily see forward/rear/side cameras as standard equipment in the next few years.

Right now, side and rear sensors, auto adjusting cruise control and backup cameras are all options on most new vehicles, but I can easily see all those becoming standard "safety" equipment on vehicles in a few years.

I also won't be surprised to see "cockpit cameras" to record the inside the vehicle in the next 10 years as well -- as standard equipment. Though that one will likely see challenges on a privacy, unauthorized search, type of argument.

To me they are a no brainer.

$60 is a small price to pay for the useful evidence they provide in the event of an accident or insurance claim.

crockett 02-04-2015 05:31 PM

I'm curious how much video do they hold?

You can get these cheaper on eBay but this one works well and does what it says on the box.
