I just published a Tumblr guide for adult webmasters that could be interesting to you.

Tumblr can delete your blogs for no reason. They did that to 200 of my sites, each on a separate subdomain. A better way to go is something like DirtySexBlog - Adult blog hosting site.

@ Marvin: With respect to the fact that paypal seems to accept adult now - at least indirectly - do you think Tumblr will relax its stance on adult or otherwise?

It is in no way comparable with Tumblr, in terms of its users.

Not sure why you're promoting it if it isn't yours.

I wrote this in the guide myself and explained how you can avoid, or at least delay, a ban.

I don't see any connection between Tumblr and PayPal. Compared to Facebook I think Tumblr is already pretty open regarding adult content, not as much as Twitter is though. Grüße nach Hamburg ;)

I would have liked to have seen something about how to chosse from the different themes available and the prod and cons of different ones.... when you decide to write; "Tumblr Guide Two".....

DirtySexBlog.com is the best xxx blog hosting site, all Wordpress based. It is just like Wordpress.com, but adult.

But it's not comparable with Tumblr, since Tumblr is a social network with additional functionality, and a large surfer base that can share your content. So for me, it's like compaing apples and oranges.

I have a shit ton of Tumblr bogs that involve adult and have yet to have a single one of them deleted. My guess is that those of you complaining are doing some shady shit. :2 cents:

Not too bad a guide. You are wrong about the tumblr restrictions on new blogs, even emptyish blogs will appear in searches after about a month but I think you are pretty spot on about how best to avoid a ban, one thing you didn't mention though is that over-SEOed blogs get banned too, its often better to have a pretty random subdomain name for your blog for some reason.
But $77 for a tumblr bot!!! There are bloody good ones around for a fraction of that.

But what sense would it make to leave the account unused for one month? With the way I'm doing it takes 1-2 days and you can start promoting.

The only real competition I know with similar features and frequency of updates is xtumblebot and that costs $47/month.

I think you keep repeating that its "outdated", "old", "dead" like a broken record because you are scared of competition. There will be more blogs showing up, making the game harder. I can understand that it's pissing you off but you should learn how to be a fair businessman and stop insulting me + stop trying to keep people off from following this guide. There's no reason to worry about me or others if you really have the better method.

dummy! tumblr changed the forms! they also took away click through links on pics. you can no longer feed tumblr! they closed that last week.

Tumblr changes their forms from time to time, just like any other social network does. Not surprising me.

That's a valid point and I can understand it's upsetting you. Read my guide because I explain how it can be done without clickthrough link on pics. However, "assholes like me" cannot be responsible for this change, as I didn't even use clickthrough links bc I thought it comes across too spammy. Seems now that Tumblr staff has the same opinion.

Not sure what you mean by "feed Tumblr". Feeding Tumblr through RSS feeds, still working. Feeding blogs by images in the queue, still working. Posting from bot to Tumblr, still working.

Wake me up when there is something to worry about :P

That's not a problem if you post there on autopilot. They remove 1 your blog, you add another 10. They remove 10, you add another 1000... :pimp

they have changed around the backend of their script though which has caused some of the bots to stop working. I know this isn't what he was saying but might explain some of the confusion.

Some of my other guides are up for over one year and they are still working in the exact same way. You overestimate the influence of such a guide. It's not that thousands of people will start following it and thereby destroying it for everyone else.

I wouldn't worry too much about your guide influences a flood of spammers onto tumblr. The best days of hitting tumbr had already passed when it started getting mentioned here a year or two back so anyone who would have had the power to really spam tumblr hard had already done so. That isn't to say that money cannot be made from their traffic, of cause it can, its just not as good as it once was.

You actually have a decent guide. Problem is, some gfy'ers will use it to eliminate their competition.
Bots must be busy if you know what I mean.

Tumblr is a great place to posting updates. I seem to gain 200-300 followers a day, sometimes more.

I've only been on it a few months, and only do a couple posts a day but I figured out some neat tricks that seem to work great. Tricks on tumblr, no bots or anything shady.
I don't know why some people think they have a problem with adult content, there is a disclaimer saying there is porn on the site and that if you are posting porn you have to use the setting in your preferences to make your tweets have a warning or whatever.

Maybe I should make a guide. My method uses only the tumblr website. No bots, no scipts, no 3rd party, no coding or looking at code, just using tumblr in a certain way. :)

There's no need to post a method that works. If everyone starts doing it then they'll soon enough get wise to it.

people are generally too lazy to put in the work if a method is posted or not. there is an initial enthusiasm but when the reality of plenty of continuous tedious work comes into play it is abandoned.

Making money with tumblr is difficult for most and easy for few. The method in this tutorial is a good guide for total newbies, but it won't get you more than a couple of pennies.

Anyhow, I use tumblr for something completely different. It's a great platform to showcase content and see what type is shared and liked more than others. It's a great help for creative minds.
Recently, I had a customer with great content, but poor presentation of his images. He would not believe small changes to his images could make a big difference. Once he saw the numbers of likes of two almost identical images, but one with a twist, it finally made "bling".
