In December I drove for an hour to a shoot location, only to get a message--45 minutes before call time--that the girl was flaking because her boyfriend broke up with her.

Well if you would not mind your daughter nude modeling, that is fine, but let me tell you something - you would be in a one big minority on the issue :)

that's different from thinking nude modeling is a horrible life decision, it's not. It may suck for some dads, I get that, but that has nothing to do with the 1000s and 1000s of girls who have modeled nude without any horrible life consequences.

Kill fees in LA are on average $200 per girl. Some locations also have Kill fees. I can't take clients where the location kill+the girls kill+make up costs more than my profit margin.


That tallys up fast when a guy can't get it up or if a guy can't pop. That is my big reason on why I don't use cheap guys, no name guys or bad guys. Because you will pay for the difference somewhere, some day.



Be glad it went down like that versus needing 10 more minutes of footage and the girl walks off set because her ass or pussy hurts.


I ate $1,500 total in kills and costs with one model in particular. Thats $1500 that I will never get back!!


And to add insult to injury, I booked the same house and the same girl to get those last 10 minutes 3 days later, and I got a "no call no show" and ate another $300 location fees.


Serious money lost, 2 days of work lost and I still had to shoot the scene with a different girl. My clients pay me for clean well shot completed content; Not my set problems and issues! Talk about getting DP'd!!!

That one time was the absolute worst one!


But I have eaten $200 + $150 make up quite a few times.


Another thing I have learned is get the model naked and check her body out for marks, welts, breakouts and bruises before you have make up done. That one simple step will save you thousands over a long porn producing career.

Doing your due diligence before the shoot will save you money when you have to send her home because she neglected to tell you or your make up artist that she worked for Kink.com yesterday. Most models won't say shit about anything that will make you want to send them home. Models really think that makeup will cover an ass caining and or any unattractive, bruises and marks.


Razor burns, herpe outbreaks, bruises, welts, pink eye, fucked up facial skin due to new birth control, staph infection on her ass; and the girl thinks its an ingrown hair. Man!!! You name it, I have seen it!!


My clients are not paying for that crap!! I personally eat it every time! You eat it enough, you learn to avoid most of those situations with a simple body check before makeup.



Do keep in mind, if you don't check the girls before make up; the girls will try and get the make up artist to keep quiet and cover it up!!



Another trick I use is: My makeup artist will talk to the girls and get into the girls state of mind to see if she's right or not right in the head. I have gotten info from the makeup artist that has seriously saved my ass financially. Girls taking drugs, girls drinking, girls talking about drinking and taking drugs before every shoot, girls that are going to give a bad scene because the got dumped this morning, the make up won't stay because of excessive tears from crying all morning, etc



I have heard it all and seen it all. Every fucked up situation has costed me money or almost costed me money. Being a director/Producer is way harder than just shooting two people having sex.

Yep. Before the driver leaves check for ID, outfits, and body check. I have the girl lay naked on her back facing the incoming light from the window and get all the way down and do a close inspection, then have her turn over for further inspection. That macro lens will see stuff a casual glance misses. I used to have to shave them but now I email them written instructions on how to shave and I have not had to do that since. I hated shaving them. But, you should have shaving cream, fresh razors and electric trimmers on hand for when you do have to spruce them up. Butt pimples, crotch pimples and they are on their way home and not coming back. I see butt and crotch pimples in films and pics all the time, it is really disgusting.
