interesting comments about 2015 Z06
think I'll get one next year :2 cents: |
Looks Pretty HOT :thumbsup

I have no interest in sports cars any more. Honestly you going to get from point A to point B any faster than me - You can do ninety miles an hour on the freeway, but so can my Jeep Cherokee.
I must admit though the new Vettes are nice. |
that fucking car is a technological tour de force. fucking wow, the eLSD alone is serious leading-edge tech!

The Z06 is a real nice car, the price is incredible considering what this thing will do. It would destroy cars twice it's price, on a track and even in a straight line. |

i'm pretty surprised they put michelin cup 1 tires on the z06 with the z07 perf upgrade. those are basically slicks. badass tire but very dangerous for a daily driver, which I think the z06 can be with the magnetic suspension.

I'm done with ICE sports cars myself but I'll admit the new corvette is pretty damn sexy.

+ the z06 has always been notorious difficlut to keep in a straight line in the rains. fucking nice tires though. crank! |
just did a quick goog on z06 and rain and dang if a 2015 z06 with the 07 upgrade hasn't already lost it in the rain!

IMO you should tone your driving down or be smart enough to not drive your 650hp car in the rain over a certain speed. 335 series tires will hydroplane no matter what at certain speed plus more people will be driving this in the dry vs wet. I get bad hydro with 295 series michelin pilot sports out back and 275's up front. Just comes with the territory of having a sports car.
|
the problem is idiots thinking they can drive while not even having a basic understanding of physics and probably texting or doing their makeup at the same time
but the Corvette I'd take any time ;) |
I bet that eLSD helps keep all that fucking torque in line in the rain but still need to pay serious attention. it's got a cool interface on the instrument cluster too. love that. not to mention the heads-up display.
crazy slick car. |

I've never been so scared in my life driving a car. I thought for sure I was going to total the fucker before I got home. Driving that car in a heavy downpour was also not a fun experience. It would get squirrely. |

Glad you made it home safely though. |
I have a 2014 Stingray, and will probably get the Z06 sometime this year. However, only the manual is available as of now, and I want the automatic. I ordered my Stingray, so I got it pretty early last year, but did not order the Z06, so I'm just gonna have to wait til the automatics start hitting and buy one that's not claimed yet. My dealer has me on speed dial for when that happens. :-)
Here's my car shortly after I bought it: http://www.extremebank.com/images/gfy/vette01.jpg |

I drove sports cars for twenty-eight years and loved it. I too loved the power and opening it up. But after a few decades you discover how impractical sports cars are. They are low to ground which is a huge pain in the ass (everything from parking to speed bumps to getting out of the driveway), can't park in fields (I got stuck once at a concert), then there is the fact that it's a two door and a two plus two seater can't fit four adults, not to mention the lack of storage. Factor in driving a 600 hp car with a heavy clutch in traffic isn't much fun.... I never understood the need for trucks for most of my life. I suddenly decided to buy one and frankly it's great - I can do ANYTHING your sports car do and everything your sports car cannot. For the most part I can drive just as fast as you, and throwing my twenty-five year old truck into twisties is a blast because you really feel like you are putting your life in your hands (you are!). On top of that, I can carry anything and go any where. |

They had a works corvette driver drive one stock to a sub 1.30 lap at road atlanta which is nuts for a stock production car, I think regular GT cars run about 1.28's:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmrPPBrZZ7c I drove a regular C7 Z51 a few laps at a track and it was unreal i was riding in a C6 that morning and it was light years ahead. |
Was talking to a fellow GFYer last weekend at a car show, and I remembered this thread so figured I would update it...
Traded my 2014 Stingray for a 2016 Z06 last month. Opted for the yellow again, but it's actually a different shade of yellow now (my 2014 was Velocity Yellow, the 2016 is Corvette Racing Yellow) and is a little brighter than the previous shade. I waited for the 8 speed auto, since I'll spend very little (if any) time on the track. I also got the carbon package (ground effects, spoiler, etc.), the exposed carbon fiber top, and the PDR (onboard camera and data recorder). 650 hp stock for a rear wheel drive car is ridiculous, and this thing hauls ass! Pic of both side by side, new Z06 is in the foreground, my old Stingray is behind... http://www.extremebank.com/images/gf...ndstingray.jpg |
The Vettes are getting nicer and nicer...
