I live in Manhattan (NYC) and, at least among me and my circles, we relate much more to the cultures of various European cities than we do to the various local and regional cultures in the US and Canada. Personally, I feel much more at home in places like Paris, London, Prague, and Copenhagen than I would in places like Kentucky, Kansas, Upstate NY, or other middle American locales.

I've been there :) The USA is a very racist place. And to be fair, it's racist from both sides. Try walking as a white in Harlem or some parts of the Bronx or Detroit for example. My city is much bigger than NYC and it's a home for 100's of nations, but we have no "black", "white", "yellow", "green", "blue" and whatever districts.
