SNL - 40 years

Been watchin' SNL's 40th anniversary...anyone else?

Seems like yesterday I recorded their 15th anniversary on VHS - still have the copy, too.

Time flies. Good to see some of the old cast and vintage clips from the early days.

It turned into another SNL episode -- meaning sketches went on too long and weren't funny.

Yeah, the Jeopardy and Californians segments went way too long.

I had to stop watchin' when Miley Cyrus started singing a Paul Simon song.

Lots of great clips from the past,I feel old

Rochard 02-15-2015 09:28 PM

Just started watching it here in California. The opening with all of the older clips was great and brought back a flood of memories.

Someone put a lot of work into editing that opening flashback. It was really well done. :thumbsup

Show was great with so many past stars! But the Weekend Update thing, with whoever the fuck doing Gilda Radner's Roseanne Rosanna Danna. And the chick doing Farley. Whew.

I think it was Emma Samms doing Gilda Radner's bit. It wasn't overly bad...in a tribute way.

The chick doing Farley...that was just...terrible.

I haven't seen it yet, but I love the Californians! one of my favourite reoccurring sketches. :thumbsup

nico-t 02-16-2015 05:55 AM

why is that so popular there? I have never seen anything from SNL that made me laugh. It's such a boring show.

HDADULT 02-16-2015 05:58 AM

Does Eddie Murphy age?? He must know the secret of youth!

I laughed a few times.

I liked Norm MacDonald playing Burt Reynolds on Jeopardy. Under "Famous Last Words" he says,

"I know what Ron Goldman's last words were - 'Hey...you're O.J. Simpson!"

And Tina Fey at the news anchor desk says - "Viewers of Saturday Night Live span several generations, from the Baby Boomers, to Generation X, all the way to whatever you call the little dummies who are live-Tweeting this right now instead of watching it.”

having a young, hot white chick to bang will help with that.

Definitely an upgrade from the tranny he was drivin' around with before.

I DVR'd it, but haven't checked it out yet. I heard they did a great job with it.

izombie 02-16-2015 09:55 PM

I thought Bill Murray doing the Jaws song was really funny, its had me singing his Star Wars song from the old show all day long.

Axeman 02-17-2015 08:13 PM

Just caught up on it tonight. Really enjoyed the Jeopardy skit. Bill Murray was hilarious too. Wish we got more Stephan, and zero Miley and Kanye.

I watched the whole thing and thought it was pretty good. Some of the jokes fell flat but others were dead-on. Celebrity Jeopardy was fucking hilarious. It was always a funny skit back then and they nailed it again for the 40th. Weekend Update was also really good, and Jane Curtain seems to have aged the best of the entire 70's cast. Chevy's not lookin' too good...

I skipped over "The Californians" - I just hate that skit.

Someone please tell me what the fuck Sarah Palin was doing there? Out of all the politicians they made fun of over the years, who thought it was a good idea to invite that bimbo? Poor Taylor Swift probably had to listen to Palins incoherent ramblings all night long.

Anyway, good show SNL!

Search up Jimmy Fallon SNL After Party. He explains it on his youtube channel but it just blows my mind that they had such a sweet after party. Like Prince got on stage out of no where and started jamming out.
