I wonder what Apple are up to ?

I really don't think they will actually produce cars, I think there's probably something else that they are developing.

The Apple Car hype is all hot air :2 cents:

Tesla Revenue Is 1% of Apple’s: Apple racked up $74.6 billion in revenue last quarter. In roughly the same period, iconic electric car company Tesla Motors recorded $957 million in automotive sales. So even if Apple could instantly sell as many cars as Tesla, those sales would add a measly 1.3% to total revenue next quarter.

Do those profits include sales of powertrain components to Daimler, Mercedes-Benz and Toyota?

Consider:

Tesla Motors was founded in 2003. As a 12yr old company, it's still relatively in its infancy.

What was Apple's revenue in 1988? (12 years after it was founded in 1976)
A: approx. $5billion

Not exactly what I'd call "all hot air".

Despite being behind the curve, I'd still hedge my bets on Tesla - *if* Musk remains the dominating force.

There's no doubt Apple would be working very hard on breakthroughs in battery technology.

However I think this spate of hirings, the odd vehicles Apple are using and other information being spread around indicates they are working on something else, but I doubt it's a car.

freecartoonporn 02-24-2015 07:52 PM

not bad......for employees/

Rochard 02-24-2015 09:16 PM

Battery technology in this case would be so much more than just cars. Imagine having a cell phone you could abuse for weeks at a time without charging? Or a laptop that only needs to be charged once a month no matter how much you use it.

The battery life is the key to everything.

i think this was possible back in 2001, for some reasons they messed it up putting to much unnecessary cpu and bling bling on those cellphones

seems from the article its' a tit for tat action?
