Scottish Kilts

I know this is a porn biz forum but I figure what they hell.. Perhaps someone knows something.

I'm looking to buy an real kilt but I figure the least expensive route would be to have one made. So I'm looking for someone that sells actual WOOL tartan fabrics at a decent price. Anyone know a place or have a contact?

What country?

I'm not above buying from China or India

Lochcarron of Scotland | the worlds leading manufacturer of Tartan You can get both from there. Only you can decide if the price is good or not. Remember, if you are buying the material you will need a lot more than you might think.

It wont necessarily be cheaper buying the material and getting it made.

Try a local wedding hire shop - They often have contacts for really nice kilts that can be hired. I'm sure they would be able to fit you up with one to buy. Plus, you get to try it on - Not just order blind online

There are a few webmasters from Scotland who may be abel to help.

If not post again and I will see if I can get you one.

I was looking at some of the Scottish sites and by the time I do the pounds to dollars conversion it would be cheaper for me to fly to Scotland and raid a thrift shop.

But what the heck??? Perhaps a Scottish webmaster knows someone!

If you want quality tartan you will have to pay for it.

If you end up hiring one, don't forget to wear underwear underneath. If you want to go traditional and go commando, don't forget to scrape off the knob cheese and skid marks first :)

They have wool facebook groups where you can choose which wool you want to buy and they will make things for you. Something like https://www.facebook.com/groups/rawwoolforsale/

I'm sure you can find someone who already has fabric made.

My wife's uncle is a kilt maker, he took care of all the kilts for my wedding (30 total). A real authentic kilt will not be cheap, if you are getting one for fun then I don't suggest going the route of Scotland, try China knock offs or something. If you really are interested in getting a full blown real kilt, add me to skype or email me and I will help you out.

My wedding kilt was around 800 pounds which at todays ex rate is in the region of $1,250 USD. For that you get kilt, 2 shirts, wasitcoat, blazer, socks, shoes, sporran, sgian-dubh, sock tassles, cufflinks and pretty much everything you require.

You can also probably pick up a used kilt for about half the price at a good rental place, so long as you don't mind that it is worn. They are always in very good condition and only hired by decent people for weddings mostly.

I'm surprised that the thread lasted as long as it did before someone mentions this ...

.

I'm not looking for cheap but I'm also not looking to spend over $1000. I'm hoping to find something in the neighborhood for $200

Right now I've found a really good tailor and I'm looking for the cloth. But the cloth isn't exactly what I would call "a bargain" either.

You can't even rent a kilt for $200 let alone own one.
