A small plane piloted by Harrison Ford has crash-landed at an L.A. golf course ... but we're told the actor has survived.

TMZ has learned ... Ford was piloting what appears to be a vintage 2-seater fighter plane Thursday ... when something went wrong and he crashed into Penmar golf course in Venice, CA.

We're told Ford suffered multiple gashes to his head and was bleeding. Two doctors who happened to be at the golf course rushed over to treat the actor.

Emergency personnel arrived to the scene a short time later. Ford was transported to a nearby hospital.

72-year-old Ford is a longtime aviator -- piloting planes and helicopters -- and has crashed multiple times in the past.

Just because you can afford a helicopter or airplane doesn't mean it's a good idea you should fly it. :2 cents:

Let's hope they've finished filming the next star wars. The last thing we need is the last half of the movie to have a cgi Harrison ford walking around voiced by Jim Henson's son.

It's really a trainer plane from WWII, however, it's obviously more of a fighter trainer than a bomber fighter.

When I used to hang out at a small local airfield my friends had a PT22, it was fun to fly but it did have a reputation for being a bit quirky.

In fact it was a PT22 that killed a guy I knew back in the late 70's or early 80's.

Has crashed multiple times. I'll bet most pilots only get one of those.
