Breaking: Report: 2 officers shot outside Ferguson Police Department
FERGUSON, Mo. (AP) — The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports two police officers have been shot outside the Ferguson Police Department.
The shots were fired early Thursday as police and protesters gathered outside the station after the resignation of police Chief Thomas Jackson on Wednesday. Ferguson Lt. Col. Al Eickhoff tells the newspaper that he didn't think either officer was from his department. Eickhoff says he doesn't know the extent of the officers' injuries. Jackson was the sixth employee to resign or be fired after a Justice Department report cleared white former officer Darren Wilson of civil rights charges in the shooting of black 18-year-old Michael Brown in Ferguson, but found a profit-driven court system and widespread racial bias in the city police department. If you want to talk about abuse; look at worldstarhiphop videos and see who oppresses who. I'm sure your dead set on the DOJ report with years of abuse right? Pencil pushers writing reports after the fact and not being involved in the daily grind.

Sad to see the USA turning into a ghetto in so many areas. |

There are over 1000+ robberies a day, just like the one in Ferguson, that don't end up with a shooting. If these shootings (cops shooting black teens) were so prevalent we would be hearing about them everyday. |

With the coverage by the media, minorities all over the country are going to be more defiant of the police, some practically daring the officers to use force. Surely not everyone will go too far, but others are going to place themselves in harms way and the police under further scrutiny by the media, causing even more defiance from the general public. In some cases the cops will be justified. In others they won't. When you're life is potentially at risk from someone with seemingly no regard for their OWN life, the police sometimes only have a split second to assess the situation and react. It's easy to sit on our computer and judge these officers, it's another thing altogether to be on the street at 2am in this situation. Rinse and repeat. No good can come from it. Things are only going to get worse. |
This will definitely not help the situation there. Now the cops will be scouring Ferguson for the shooter, and then what do you think will happen next?

Ironically, almost none of the police involved shootings happen in the wee hours of the night, most happen in broad daylight with lots of witnesses. |

I lived through the period of the 60's race riots as a boy. I grew up in the City of Detroit.
The destruction is there to this day: Vacant fields like an ad hoc monument to hate. One thing that I recall were the days of destruction and killing before the Governor asked that Johnson order in federal troops to restore the peace -- there were soldiers and tanks in the streets. It was an awful time for everyone and if you look at Detroit today -- that's 90% of the reason Detroit is what it is today. So, Burn baby burn, but when you burn your own community down where will you live and do business? Vengeance without a real plan is its own evil ... |

It's just dumb.. Not that Ferguson was likely very a nice place to visit, but it certainly wont be attracting any future funding or growth. This is why when white people riot they go bomb other people's houses and neighborhoods. :1orglaugh |

And this all boils down to resisting arrest after a crime has been committed. Who in the fuck can defend resisting arrest and felonious behavior. Without the action you don't have the re-action.
Hell of a social goal, don't resist arrest after your fellow citizens call 911 on you for being a felon. Wouldn't you think the head of The Department of Justice would offer this simple advise? . |
I hate talking about this, my view will different then your view and so on, but what I don't understand is when stopped by the police, why not show that officer respect, even if that officer don't show you it first? I mean if you do what is asked of you, then 99% of the time things will go good. Yes their are the bad cops, bad blacks, bad whites etc... there will always be a bad apple or two everywhere you go.
Just is stupid to go at a police officer with a gangster attitude to start off with. When I say gangster I am NOT referring to blacks, I am referring to every race. |

Wake up and smell the roses "Brother" ... Don't commit crimes, don't resist or attack the police if you do commit a crime and get caught. What's so fucking hard oo understand about that? . |

He is on his deck smoking a cigarette. Three cops roll up with a fourth just around the corner as backup. Guns pulled. What does guy do? Puts his hands in the air and says that he does not have a weapon on him, which he didn't. |
Seriously? So nobody actually read the DOJ report about systematic racism and abuse of the poor and black communities in Ferguson? You really think all they needed to do was stop resisting arrest after committing crimes and being approached by cops? Then you're just an idiot.
The report found that the entire justice system from street cop to judge was engaged in shaking down the poor and minorities as a revenue source! Why does anything else need to be said on this topic? Yes the shootings were wrong and stupid, thank god nobody died. Yes a systematic abuse of poor and minorities by cops, judges and government is wrong and evil, and I guess it's just too fucking bad that a bunch of people have died! |

The same DOJ that found no wrongdoing in the actual shooting that this is all about? And yes, I do think after you commit a felony you won't be shot by the cops if you give up peacefully. And again we overlook the obvious, don't commit a felony, don't have your own neighbors call 911 for police assistance. . |

They didn't say there was no evidence. Big difference considering the way the investigation went. |
Incident #1 commit a crime.
Incident #2 confronted by police Incident #3 resist arrest Incident #4 get shot Why do some people insist on focusing on #4 when the obvious is don't do any of the first three? . |
