I've always likes the Foo Fighters version of "Have a Cigar". Not better than the original, though.

PR_Glen nailed it with All Along the Watchtower from Hendrix

Stevie Ray Vaughan's version of Little Wing is pretty rad as well.

Tiamat's Pink Floyd cover is definitely a Very Good Cover

SilentKnight 03-14-2015 07:47 AM

Better than Springsteen, IMO.

Better than Martha & the Vandellas (and WAY better than Jagger & Bowie)

Best cover of 'Ghost Riders in the Sky' (over 50 artists have done it over the years)

I'm not a huge ICP fan but I like this cover better much than the original by Sly Fox.

**has to be the live version with Robert Smith on guitar**

Original by The Beatles

--

Original by Roberta Flack

1997 Single by Fleetwood Mac
1977 B-Side by Fleetwood Mac (Technically The Original)

--

1936 by Samuel Barber (Original)

myleene 03-14-2015 11:54 PM

First 3 are totally pop. Last one is punk. Sorry... No rock. :(

One of the best rock covers of all time...

And before anyone argues the point Mick Jagger himself admitted it was better than the original. (which in it's own right is incredible)

I actually forgot that was a cover. Interesting enough that the original performer John Kongos is actually the father of a current band making headway in the US called The Kongos.. (awesome band btw)

Not saying either of the covers are better than the original but both are really good.
