Erotic feature movies...

Which is the more profitable way to go with a well shot erotic movie, As an adult movie confined to be sold as adult or as an indie erotic movie with a normal 18 certificate?

Any companies interested in talking about pre sales? for one method or the other?

A good niche, you will find a good business, we do the same, actually a real filmmakers making movies... More expensive, but in the long run more profitable. We spent about $ 30 to $ 50,000 per movie ( used to spend more but you know... The Pirates). The traditional DVD and Cable TV buyers give us about 50 % and the rest we get off our own VOD platform... Fuck Roku, Hullu, etc.... The only problem is, that it takes about 6 months to recover, but then we are building a library...if you actually make it good you will have a winner.:2 cents:

We have been in pre sale business for years but now since DVD is basically dead and the VOD just takes and does not pay ( yet) , we use our existing clients and try to create a VOD sub-licensing deals with legit companies. It also helps if you are attending the the right synagogue in LA.:thumbsup

That's interesting, your budget was about what we were working on. About $50,000.

It is about finding the right talent for enough time to make something special with.

You did not get it quite correct on the last bit ;). You need clever writing and an experienced director to "squeeze" a decent performance even out of mediocre talent.

What we do is as follows: We script around 1 or 2 reasonably talented actors who can deliver the drama. Generally they do not do anything erotic ( even though sometimes they want to :thumbsup) and the rest we fill with really nice models... They supply the erotic bits and are limited to dialogues like " Go Go Go.... Yes Sir, .... Please no Madame" ... You get my drift :1orglaugh)

Also I should point out we have an internet and cable versions. FYI but even the internet version is NOT very hard core.

You could do something like Micheal Winterbottom's film, Nine Songs.

The sex itself is the drama, and it is interspersed with music, or whatever.

Bingo.

Without strong writing you're building a house with no foundation.

Way too mainstream and a bit silly... We are more after the films like:

Fire in her Bed ( 2011) more kinky, and not funny love stories...:thumbsup
