Boxing Fans - a must Youtube channel to subscribe to
I've been researching all these classic boxers and fights of the late 80's Tyson era and found this gentleman who took the effort and uploaded lots of original VHS recorded Entire HBO / Showtime programs from the 80's and early 90's.
These always include all the pre-fight materials and analysis, makes for an exciting viewing. It's quite fascinating to see Tyson, Holyfield, the late George Foreman, and countless other colorful characters of those days in their prime, with original interviews, commentaries, back stories etc.. I am pretty much impressed how well produced these programs were, seriously hooked as I'm watching one almost every evening for the past two weeks. No matter how hard it may be to pick one's most favorite boxer, I guess George, for me, is the most likable champion. You just had to root for the guy when he came back. Seeing him in the ring, you could see he was aware of his limitations, but with his experience, heart and the fact that he sure didn't lose one bit of his punching power, he was still nobody to joke about. His fight with Holyfield was quite something, definitely one of the top fights in the history in my book. Talking about great champions, here's another two: This is Joe Frazier after he got demolished by Foreman in 73 (starting at 2:00). Quite impressed by the humble, decent and cultured Joe (Hope Bill Cosby didn't pull no stunts on him :)) Ken Norton talking about the first Ali fight, quite touching. |
great stuff!
