This is what us ballers eat while watching Batman, meanwhile down below in the peasant seating the local police chief is shooting cell phone users. Yep, same Tampa theatre.

I usually go to Austin | Alamo Drafthouse Cinema

Not as fancy as some of the pictures posted above, but lots of fun and pretty good food. I take my own chair.

Kenny B! 04-03-2015 07:38 AM

I went to an iPic theater in Phoenix and it was like that. Tickets were $24 each, not terrible for VIP treatment and reclining seats.

The blankets freak me out, but that's my OCD issue, I don't trust they wash them after each use.

MakeMeGrrrrowl 04-03-2015 07:41 AM

If we had theaters like that I would go to the movies instead of watching on movietube

CaptainHowdy 04-03-2015 07:41 AM

Don't watch movies anymore ...

They most likely do not. ;)

ps. there's no sex in the champagne room...

...nor the vip section of your movie theater.

iPic Theaters - The Ultimate Movie Experience

I go to the one in Boca all the time. Only way to watch a movie!

Great food as well

SilentKnight 04-03-2015 09:03 AM

We stopped going to the theatre after investing in our own home theatre.

Movies

Movie theatres are bleeding money. Attendance is down. People have their own home systems and you can pause whenever for food & bathroom breaks. To make up for this they have to get the movie patron to spend more.
I worked for AMC/Loews, their goal was to eliminate all theatres that had less than a dozen screens. Add a full service bar and offer the movie patron food & drinks or bump up to the recliners.
They took this seriously. They had 50 different recliners to try out. They also converted a theatre near the home office, that you could just eat without seeing the movie. Business was so good, you almost couldn't get a place to eat.
Recliners are the way to go, but I dropped well over $50 and I had a free pass.
Most small towns will no longer have a theatre and drive-ins are going. The cost to go digital is too much.
I worked in the tax department and we were always coming up with some tax break and asking for a refund. One day, we received a check from the State of New York, for a filing I did for unclaimed property funds. On that day, I was more profitable than any one of the 400+ theatres.

Rand 04-06-2015 10:53 AM

Yes! We have them nearby and the best part is.... (which is worth the extra cost alone) there are NO kids in the theater, due to the fact that the theater serves alcohol. Decent food, cocktails, a call button for more popcorn..... excellent!

Wendy-Etology 04-06-2015 11:02 AM

EVERY movie theater should be like this!

Choopa Phil 04-06-2015 11:11 AM

They just redid the movie theater down the road from me to be like this...$5 all day on Tuesday's and regular viewings are $11. Its actually cheaper than it used to be. I guess they are making up for the lost ticket revenue with food/drink sales. I noticed they also lowered the prices for snacks, soda, and candy too.

Seating

AMC has 2 kinds of new seating.
The recliners. If you notice in the picture posted here (not AMC) there are only about 30 seats. That's why they charge so much.
The other style is you sit in regular theatre seats but there is a wooden bar in front of your seat for food and drink.
The goal is for you to eat before the movie starts and maybe have a drink or two while the movie is playing. For what they charge for a drink you can almost buy a bottle.

Spunky 04-06-2015 05:51 PM

We don't have that here
http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...4/PICT1057.jpg

SIK 04-06-2015 06:55 PM

Same here, we got them but they are around 20$ per ticket (you do get some crappy sort of fancy food included in the ticket).

I like it coz I like drinking lots of beers during chick flicks that bitchez take me to, waitress is one button away at such a cinema.

We have that too

It's called Cineplex VIP theaters, and it's a part of the normals big theaters

It's only 20 per ticket, and you can get served (alcohol too)

2MuchMark 04-06-2015 08:50 PM

Yes. I have been to the one in Brossard just outside of Montreal twice. If you go, don't go for the usual theatre food - go for the better restaurant-quality food. I took Tracy there to see 50 Shades and we had some great food over a bottle of wine, then watched the movie.

The seats were super comfortable. The picture and sound quality are good, but if you enjoy big budget action movies, don't go to a vip theatre - instead go to an IMAX or AVX theatre for the truly big screen big sound experience.

nico-t 04-07-2015 02:32 AM

great for fat asses

when i see american reality shows and docs even broke people have those huge gross ass leather recliners, parking their huge bodies in it. With a cup holder in the armrest. Most of the time with a matching huge equally tasteless and gross leather couch that looks like it's been under a bridge with hobo's living on it for 5 years. It are fucking eye sores and health hazards.

onwebcam 04-07-2015 06:39 AM

Haven't been to a theater in at the very least a decade so wouldn't know.

Rochard 04-07-2015 07:23 AM

We have two new theaters locally. One, the Blue Oaks Century opened up a few years ago and frankly business seems to be booming. On the weekends the place is packed.

Two months ago a new one opened with the big reserved seats where they bring meals to you. I haven't been there yet. I have no burning desire to drop $150 for a trip to the movies, and frankly I've been going to the movies and eating only popcorn for the past forty years and I have no desire to eat a burger in the dark.

I can see how the theaters can be hurting however. I stream everything from either Netflix or Amazon. I can stream to any TV in my house now.

RandyRandy 04-07-2015 07:28 AM

The have them here in Malaysia. Gold Class they call them. About $17, add another $7 if it's 3D. Waiter service, but it's Halal, so no alcohol.

In Manatee county we have those nice theaters. Reserved seating and ultra clean. It's a shitty area with a clean movie theatre.
