for me it's more of an oversight on his part. not a good characteristic for a president to have. i don't believe he was trying to be nefarious.

I don't think its nefarious either. It's a quiet, subtle, message to his wife's countrymen that he is with them, he loves them, and he will help them. It also primes his son's political career.
