I LOVED "Space:1999" as a kid! But only once they brought on Maya. The first season without her was dull, like "Star Trek: Voyager" before they brought in Seven of Nine.

This shit pisses me off. As a little kid, watching re-runs of shit like Space 1999, i was firmly of the belief that we'd all be living in a different universe and flying around in spaceships at about that time. Then it came... and it went. Such a disappointment.

I have vague memories of it. Did not run long as I recall.

I *Loved* Space 1999 as a kid, and still watch it today. True some of the science was way off, but it didn't matter. The Moonbase Alpha EAGLE looked so real, and looked like it could even be built to fly. The Eagle itself made the entire show seem so real and legit somehow.
I'm on the fence when it comes to which season was better. Season One was definitely very cerebral, while Season Two was faster and more action based after they brought in Fred Freiberger to produce it).
If you've never seen the show it is really worth checking out. The visual effects were fantastic for the time and hold up well today. (No CGI). The effects master, Brian Johnson, also helmed the vfx for The Empire Strikes Back and Alien.
There was talk about bringing the show back with cleaned up VFX and edits to the story, and calling it Space : 2099 but the project seems to have died. Oh well.
