PCSO: Driver deported 20 times nabbed after high-speed chase
FLORENCE, AZ (KPHO/KTVK) -
A man who said he has been deported to Mexico 20 times was involved in a high-speed chase that began on Interstate 10 with Pinal County sheriff's deputies Friday night. A PCSO spokesman said 26-year-old Genaro Cisneros-Delgado reached speeds of 100 mph at one point and rammed through the gates of a community center. The chase began when a deputy clocked a Dodge Caravan going 85 mph on I-10 with a posted speed limit of 65 mph, a sheriff's office spokesman said. The van briefly pulled over, but accelerated as the deputy got out of his car and approached the van, the spokesman said. The chase lasted 23 minutes and covered more than 30 miles before the van crashed through a gate and reached a dead end in the Sun Lake Retirement Community, causing $20,000 damage, the spokesman said. Delgado and three others jumped from the van and ran, but were captured after a short pursuit. Delgado, who is listed as a Phoenix resident, was booked into jail on charges of felony flight and endangerment. He was held on $50,000 bond.
