Nelly Arrested On Felony Drug Charges

NASHVILLE (AP) ? Rapper and reality TV star Nelly is facing felony drug charges after being arrested in Tennessee on Saturday.

Tennessee Highway Patrol said in a news release that Nelly, whose real name is Cornell Haynes, was pulled over about 9:20 a.m. because the bus he was riding in failed to display a U.S. Department of Transportation and International Fuel Tax Association sticker.

According to the release troopers smelled marijuana when they reached the bus.

When troopers searched the bus, they found five rocks that tested positive for meth, as well as a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Troopers also say they found numerous handguns.

The St. Louis native is facing charges including felony possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Nelly, 40, was released from Putnam County Jail on a $10,000 bond. His next court date is June 19.

Wait...they allow rappers in Nashville?

WTF?

BAKO 04-12-2015 01:32 AM

The cops put the drugs in the bus. Just sayin

AmeliaG 04-12-2015 12:36 PM

I hate when those sorts of articles make a thing of someone's "real name" and, in this case, it is just grammatically wrong as well because Nelly is just a diminutive for Cornell, not a different name.

mineistaken 04-12-2015 12:43 PM

Nashville is the country music capital.

Country music is the mantra of rednecks and hillbillies.

Rednecks and rap...naw, don't think so.

Doubt that those 28% of blacks are more leaning towards country than towards rap :winkwink:

I'm in Putnam county this weekend and it made big headlines for this little Tennessee town.

blackmonsters 04-12-2015 03:53 PM

Without the war on drugs this would be a what?

You mean for the second largest TN city and fourth largest city in South Eastern USA?

Nashville is a straight up music capital and has a very large presence of music in many different genres. The days of Nashville being "all country" are long gone.

Better look at where Putnam County and Exit 275 is on highway 40. It's an hour from Nashville. The Putnam county Jail is in Cookeville TN where I am.

My parents live in Cookeville and I know of all of all those places. Chad and his Dad own Char ( along with the 19th hole, Cooke House and Wooly Bully's ) and Thomas and his mom own the Coliseum :thumbsup Both cool places.

I have not been out in Cookeville in quite some time. Last time I was though I went to Cosmos on 136 :) They have a killer chocolate vanilla martini! Carla makes them the best.

I'm sure nelly didn't know anything about the drugs on his tour bus. I think there's usually a member of the entourage that takes the charges in this type of situation.

Nelly did do a country collaboration with Tim McGraw so maybe that's why he's in Nashville again

I have met Chad and his sister Tiffany. I didn't know his dad was a part owner. I don't know Thomas but have seen him walking around. I remember when it was Wheeler's Skating Rink.

I like Cosmos too. Really dig their Nachos.

I think it was Wilson County where Barbi Cummings got pulled over and gave a THP guy a blow to get out of a ticket.

I was shocked to learn recently, in a rolling stone article no less, that country and rap crossover appeal is quite large. It's even call Hick Hop. Seriously!

adultchatpay 04-12-2015 08:02 PM

They do drugs to keep up with the pace of long tours.

Love that song. But it sounds like they're singing to each other. :)

Nelly is a country boy himself. His first album was called country grammar.

Holy crap the Nachos are awesome at Cosmos.

If you hang out on Thursdays nights at Char my good friends band plays music there. Sort of a jazzy funk style by "The Leave"

Someone who actually knows something other then a stereotype about the Nashville Music Industry. :thumbsup:pimp

Putnam county is not even the county Nashville is in.
