The last vacation I took was to Hawaii, we had nearly unlimited funds, and went all out. We went for two weeks, rented a really nice condo, and had a 4x4 Jeep for a rental car. I planned out everything myself; I bought books about Hawaii and checked out all of the travel websites. I planned out two events for each day, and in the event we had any down time we just walked all of a block to the beach and did that.

Best two weeks of my life.

The important question though: Did you book it online?

What would have happened if you had booked that vacation offline?

I used some online sites, but not the typical travel sites like hotels.com. I used vrbo.com to find the condo, Hawaiian Airlines to book the flights, and rented a car from national. I booked the first cruise the day we landed online, but the rest was set up while we were there.

It was awesome. I had every day planned out to some degree, with back up plans for every event. I even knew where the good restaurants were.

One day while visiting North Shore I told my wife I was taking her to this Italian restaurant name Giovani's without telling her what it was. We pulled up and it's a "shrimp truck". My wife was a bit surprised but rolled with it. Turned out it was one of the best meals we had.

I even knew where to stop to get shaved ice.

The highlight for me was swimming in Magnum's tidal pool!
