what's your favorite disaster documentary?

just the disaster is fine but even better if you have a specific documentary you prefer on a disaster.

Disaster documentary? Like about plane crash or something like that? Well, lets say Titanic; I have seen many, I can't tell the difference by name.

Funny, I haven't never kept those documentaries as disaster documentaries. Just the sucky ones I have seen on pay TV, those "feast" with he disaster.

dyna mo 04-21-2015 06:49 AM

maybe i'm the only one who categorizes my documentaries?

but there are tons and tons of them,

chernobyl
fukashima
bhopal
bp oils spill
structure fires and collapses
plane crashes
oil spills
boat sinkings
dams breaking
chemical explosions
earthquakes
tsunamis
hurricanes
tornadoes
volcanoes

the issue is sorting out the good docs from the bad ones and not wasting time on the bad ones

I love stuff about Chernobyl. And Pearl Harbor.

However, 9/11 is what really interests me. No other disaster or event has had such a huge impact on the US. It's also been widely documented - we have live video footage of every moment of 9/11 captured from dozens of angles. The amount of information we have from 9/11 is just staggering.

I don't have any specific documentary but I find super volcanoes really interesting. There's a lot of them on Youtube.

9/11 is a great example, i still watch docs on it, but as you know, there is a shit ton of garbage docs on the event, i mean some are absolutely bizzare!

which 9/11 docs do you recommend? i haven't rifled through them all.

Isn't 9/11 and especially Pearl Harbour more like war documentaries? As disaster is something that happens more accidentally, unintentionally. And in both cases, those were surely intentional.

I don't watch that much disaster documentaries, but others yes. It is hard to name those, as most don't have English name.

But producer of one good war documentary about Hitler and one about D-day:

Spiegel TV

EDIT:

Chronicle of the Third Reich

D-Day

Of course it's "Zero: An Investigation Into 9/11". This is documentary film produced by Giulietto Chiesa (Italian journalist). Really, this is the best documentary film I've ever seen about 9/11 attacks. There are a lot of shocking facts about 9/11

scarlettcontent 04-22-2015 07:49 AM

If you consider the NSA throwing out the Constitution a disaster, then Citizen4 is the best doc I've seen in a long time. No narrative. Riveting.

And while it's not a disaster, ESPN 30 for 30 on OJ had the same style of no narrative and it was incredible - even though you know the story, different view.
