420 is not a gateway holiday, it doesn't lead to heroin day, crack day, etc. duh.

Alcohol is a gateway drug however.

It is addictive meaning if you use it everyday you will build up a tolerance for it and need more and more to get the same effect. It is also physically addictive meaning that if you use it everyday your body will actually NEED a certain dosage or withdrawal symptoms will be experienced.

It is also a depressant and sedative so consuming it will cloud your judgement and lower inhibitions which open the user wide up to experimenting with other drugs...hence the gateway effect.
