We should not treat these fucking monkeys like humans!

An animal rights group has been granted a court hearing in which it will argue that two chimpanzees who live at a New York state university cannot be held captive because they are autonomous, intelligent creatures.

New York State Supreme Court Justice Barbara Jaffe in Manhattan issued an order late Monday, called a writ of habeas corpus, requiring the State University of New York at Stony Brook on Long Island to defend its right in court to keep the primates, Hercules and Leo. A writ of habeas corpus requires a person to be released from unlawful imprisonment.

Really? Give monkeys the rights of humans?? So how will these monkeys work to pay their taxes? You think monkeys should have the rights of humans or not? I say NO!

That's pretty dumb. But it won't surprise me if it happens.

CurrentlySober 04-29-2015 08:31 AM

i cunt a4d a monkey... :(

Relentless 04-29-2015 08:32 AM

Chimps are more human than corporations and we treat corps as people. Yet another reason giving corps the same rights as people is a very bad idea.

This is exactly what I was thinking. How can you give personhood to something not capable of being responsible for it's actions?

So monkey's become people, they break the law, and what? Go back to the lab, which these people say is their prison?

Pay taxes for what if they don't work? Do they own much, like properties?

I don't know about this "human" rights, but maybe we should establish some "intelligent animal rights" (that includes us). That how we have established rights for intelligent Terrestial and Extraterrestial life.

Responsible for who? You? Mess up in chimp herd and you will feel it in your guts. But I don't think they will feel being responsible for you, or your law. They have their own leaders and rules.

blackmonsters 04-29-2015 08:40 AM

It's racist to call a chimpanzee a monkey.

So they don't work and what? We put them on welfare? So we give them rights, set them free, and they don't make money, just take from the system?

Labs already have to abide by a certain code of humane ethics in their treatment of lab animals. I think giving monkeys humanhood just opens a can of worms.

Why not? They are smart & sentient. Why shouldn't they have rights? Who says they are here for humans to do what we will with them?

They are already protected in the wild. They already have standards of treatment the labs have to abide by. I hate the fact that animals have to be experimented on, it literally sickens me, but the fact is, animals have to be experimented on to advance the human species. It's a harsh reality.

As long as they are treated well thing should stay the way they are.

Monkeys and chimps are wild animals. Usually wild animals don't enjoy that much Homo's welfare. For the ones you have enslaved, you might give welfare, it is justified.

And if I have got this correctly, it is not giving humanhood, as those are not humans to start with. The whole issue is respecting the fact that other species (especially intelligent ones) have rights too.

Why we can't experiment on you? Better yet. We would treat you well. I promise.

blackmonsters 04-29-2015 10:03 AM

After chimps get human rights they will start killing us all because none of them can be convicted of murder.
They will just be cops at that point.

1) I'm human

Since you're advocating they be given more rights, then you should be experimented on. Sacrifice yourself by showing compassion and volunteering for the experiments. Oh wait, that's illegal for these particular types of experiments, the reason why we must use chimps :disgust

Yes, you are, and that makes you as a great test subject.

Why I would volunteer? I'm ME, you are YOU. Much better to experiment with YOU.

The only reason you can say you are ME is because I am ME. And because I'm ME that means you are YOU. So I agree with with. Much better to experiment with YOU.

One of the dumbest analogies I have ever read. Well done.

Yes but your dog isn't an intelligent Chimp. I'm sure the lawyers will argue that, being intelligent and autonomous, these Chimps have needs. They'll need a gaming system, food, clothes, a place to stay. Someones going to have to give them money for that.

No, my dog is intelligent dog.

And again, you think that all animals are like humans (still you say otherwise). But of course, if it is intelligent; it surely needs newest Playstation. There is no doubt about that. Of course we have some challenges to get it working for whales, but there is no doubt about the need.
