Your Ideas That Never Quite Got Going..

I have bought and made stacks of sites over the years in the hope I would create the next big thing.
I don't do it so much anymore but I would like to hear from you, what have you made in the hope of creating the next big thing? Did it work or flop miserably.

One of mine, I don't remember the name was effectively a stalking website..

I had a map of celebrity homes (actually I only had a couple) the idea was I would allow people to upload and share famous people in their area.. Surprisingly it never took off.

i remember commercials like 15 years ago that said we were going to be able to checkout our groceries an entire cart at once...i guess that idea never got going either.

Before the web caught on I started Tri-City Online Classifieds as a BBS. People could advertise services, stuff for sale...anything you'd see in a newspaper classified.

Basically the concept was much like kijiji - but obviously on a much, much smaller and limited scale.

Many years later we launched Fetishopolis.com - a bdsm/fetish user forum. Never really caught on...the market was already saturated and we never devoted much time to properly promote it.

Unfortunately, that's the trend that eventually leads everyone to making less and less money...when all innovative ideas are duplicated, re-hashed and cloned over and over.

We all have to share blame in that category.
