Buying traffic to a dating site

What is the business model of something like Etology, lets say. I've seen it in multiple places on the Internet (here, trade shows, I started getting emails from them). They have dating traffic, they dont convert it themselves, and sell it to other people instead. What is the reason people buy it, do they invest in it, in order to grow their sites? I mean, it probably does not make sense to keep buying that in the long run? Where is this traffic / may be coming from?

You want to buy something that people with 7 and 8 figure ad budgets are fighting for. You'll lose a lot before you make anything... if you can last to that point.

I didn't even read your post and just replied with random bullshit. Sorry.

People that buy ad spots might only want traffic from specific categories (gay, she male, teen wtc) or specific types of traffic (android mobile, Windows PC) wtc) and its more profitable to sell all traffic to people who will best concert every click than n to try to convert it ones self based on 100s of variables.

prob best to try and think outside the box then to compete with those who have that method down to a science.

These are some valid points you brought up. Here at Etology we have different type of advertisers with hundreds of different offers. Our clients bring in new niches and various offers to keep things fresh in the ad rotation. As you may know when the traffic sees the same offer and the same kind of landers it gets tired and the conversions go way down. That's why it's alawys good to get new advertisers and make sure everyone is happy with their traffic. If you want to talk add me to skype :-)
