[SEO] Follow links to subdomains

Follow links to subdomains, how do they work, seo-wise?

~Ray 05-07-2015 06:54 AM

they are another good way of getting backlinks to a domain without overloading the index page.

Ok, so link-to-here.domain.com is exactly the same as domain.com/link-to-here ?

Sure as hell isn't. The subdomain is basically different domain. I don't know why you should get backlinks to subdomains, when you can just link deeper into the main url's hieharchy. Like www.megapornotube/girls/.

I have used subdomains only for some page elements to have more parallel downloads.

It is not me linking, it is other people. This is how the site is constructed, and I dont have control over it. So again, how does it work seo-wise, follow links? They dont count at all, towards the main domain name?

Those links count for the subdomain. If there is some impact to main domain, it isn't much. I would say roughly that there isn't impact to main domain, ot at least that has been the case.

Of course you can link from the subdomain to the main domain, that would save your situation little bit.

Tumblr is a great example

you can do it like this...

index.com - main domain
sub.index.com - sub domain
index.com/folder - money page

create niche sub.domain with no outlinks/advertisements ... link it to the index page and to the money page.

get backlinks to the clean sub.domain and let the se bots find the index page and money page. That should help their domain/page authority which is a part of SEO.

Your sub.domains will have lots of inlinks and no outlinks. Links to other pages within the same domain are not counted as outlinks.

Not in the SEO land of 2015.
