Let's see what Fremont Street has to offer.
My 4th Vegas visit and still never had the chance to check out Fremont. About to head down now. We go home on Monday so best do it before we miss the chance again.
I know some people don't like it, and some people love it (robbie for an example). I have a feeling i'm gonna get drunk either way ! Taxi !!! :thumbsup |
If you don't have fun on Fremont, you are a boring lame ass fuck. ;-)

An hour or so has passed , he's either having fun, drunk, or both!
|
Well Fremont rocks! Saw a band who were excellent (Monroy). But also saw some fucking crazy sights in the crowd lol. It's certainly different from the Vegas i've experienced the last 12 days or so. But totally worthwhile... :thumbsup

I love it there. Stayed at El Cortez on my first Vegas trip, it's like time travel
|
It's an open area party plaza. Good times there.
|
They have $1 shrimp cocktails and $4.95 really great prime dinners, just like back in the old Vegas days.

I loved Fremont, can take your drink anywhere you want, and there's good gambling as opposed to some of the high end place where it is all $50 a hand and up |

Good to hear you're having fun!
When you're back on the strip again...stop by the little "Casino Royale" over by Harrahs. It's the only casino left on the strip that isn't owned by the MGM or Ceasars or Sands Corp. Which means you can get $1 Michelob bottles. $3 liquor drinks. And it has the only White Castle burger joint in Las Vegas. It's a good place to stop in and get your buzz going before you hit the big corporate casinos where you have to pay $7 for a beer and $17 for a well-brand liquor drink. |

for the win! Roulette....only money I ever took from Vegas;) |
Make sure you head past the canopy to Fremont East. That's where you'll get the authentic fun, yet local thing that Fremont has to offer. I have owned a couple brick and mortars there, and there is never a dull moment!

It was a pretty well done show I thought. An even better one is "The Million Dollar Quartet" over at Harrahs. Those two shows are some of the best live musicians and singers to be found anymore on the strip (With all the Cirque shows taking over everywhere and DJ's playing the clubs) |
Heading to Vegas next week, too...
Well, we're actually landing Monday morning, but driving out to Pahrump for three days on the track at Spring Mountain Motorsports Park, having some fun with the new Corvettes. Then, we'll be in Vegas for a couple days before flying home on Saturday. |
Have to remember that area when the wife and I hit up Vegas. Sounds like my kinda' place to check out.

The "clubs" in Vegas are not for me. They are absolutely no fun at all. The ONLY people who are having a good time are the celebrities and VIP's in the sections that us "normal" people can never get into. That's true of all the clubs. Back in the glory days of Vegas you could go see the biggest stars in the world at that time doing live shows (Sinatra, Elvis, Streisand, Liberace, etc.). And then you might run into them later at the tables gambling. Hell Dean Martin even dealt blackjack a few times for fun. These days? "Stars" like Kim Kardashian are advertised at one of these mega-clubs. So you go thinking you can say "hi" to her and party in the same place. Reality: You end up as one of the herd of cattle in the big section of hell. Meanwhile Kim Kardashian comes in from her private suite on a private elevator and comes out and waves to the crowd from a private balcony of the club. Then she ducks inside to the private room to party. And we're all down on the floor crammed in like sardines and paying $17 for a well brand vodka cocktail that is watered down and took us an hour to get because there are no tables or waitresses UNLESS you pay thousands of dollars for "table service". I don't understand why people go to those places. Shitty service, overpriced drinks, no entertainment (unless you count a "DJ" pushing "play" on his laptop and a cool light show as entertainment) I'd much rather see a band playing, pay a reasonable price for a drink and have some room to breathe. |
I recently went to Laughlin for the Laughlin River Run. I like going there more. I have a client in Vegas and the company I'm doing work for has a office in Vegas as well. I need to start riding out there every couple months.

We ended up in Omnia in Ceasers last night. I wanted to check it out. Looks wise it is amazing inside. And that roof that goes up and down really does give it a unique feel. Again though the place was rammed and drinks prices were ridiculous. Had an argument with some scammers out in the street an hour ago as we paid $80 yesterday for tickets for David Guetta pool party today, only to find out those assholes were fake. How do they get away with it on the strip ?? |
Never pay for tickets anywhere except at the Box Office of the event.
Even online gets you shitty seats. And yeah, there are plenty of people scamming if you're not careful. I remember before I moved here, I bought 4 tickets to the Beatles Love Show online and had them delivered to my hotel room at The Palms. I paid a little over $1,000 for those tickets. Now that I live here, I realize I can just go to The Mirage Box Office and buy them myself for $60 each! Even cheaper if I show a local ID. So just remember...if you are going to see a show in Vegas, wait until you get here and go to the venue ahead of time and buy tickets. If the show is that evening...it MIGHT be sold out. But you can usually get tickets if you go to the box office around noon. I found out the hard way that buying tickets online gets you the shitty seats here. I paid a grand each for tickets to the Lesnar/Carwin fight at The MGM Grand. Bought them online through the link at MGM. Got to the venue and found my $1,000 seats were a football field away. So I ran down to the MGM Box Office and explained myself. They said "yes" they could move me up. But once I showed them my tickets, they told me "No" because they weren't purchased directly from the Box Office. They were through ticketmaster and there was nothing they could do. Boy was I pissed! |
