new tire concept, pretty cool
pretty cool indeed,
Cool stuff, they are no longer produced for some reason
Airtrax introduced this amazing vehicle concept in 2000, manufactured it from September 2005 until March of 2006, and marketed it until 2008 when the company ceased all operations. Airtrax prototyped several other types of vehicles including the COBRA line of Aerial Work Platforms, but none of those were ever produced or sold. Vehicle Technologies, Inc. resumed production of the ATX-3000 under license in 2010. Vehicle Technologies, suspended production of the ATX-3000 in June of 2013 The SIDEWINDER is no longer produced, and is only available in the used Lift Truck Market Omni directional, Airtrax History |
only 500x as much rubber as a regular tire.. wonder why it didn't take off ;)
cool stuff :thumbsup

The wheels (feet?) rotate against the ground, they must really grind down over time doing that.
That's pretty bad ass TBH, I wonder if it was just a cost thing which caused them to go under or if the system didn't last long term.
cool shit :)

Re-inventing the wheel - fail.

Awesome for a crane, but you couldn't go very fast it looks like.
good for parking. we can go saideways , but only if we could control the all wheels direction.
Cool beans,we are evolving with the wheel

It hasn't gone away, that model isn't being made anymore but they still support it and are selling used/demo ones and different vehicles with the same tires Vehicle Technologies Inc.
i love industrial parks, and trying to figure out what all these weird companies that nobody knows about other than in very narrow niches of industry are all about. i used to work part-time doing shipping work for a company a family friend owned in one of these industrial/office parks, I'd walk past the open bay doors and peek in 'oh neat, this is where snow globes come from' and random products like that. |
Not sure if practical in high speed
Anyway interesting
