The Greek Debt

So I was just listening to the news and it said that Greece could run out of money (again) within 2 weeks unless they can secure another loan from the central bank.

They are already $376 billion in debt and it's costing them over $24 billion in interest every year.

Question. What happens if the money does actually run out?
Why don't they declare bankruptcy and start again saving $24 billion a year? Ok, so Euro nations and the local populous would be a bit pissed but medium to long term it could work well?

There's no way back for Greece. They should let it exit the Euro now as gracefully as possible and revert to the Drachma. Then let Europe spend the next 10 years recovering from the aftermath, instead of the 20 years it'll take for Greece to pay back the debt it owes now.

Capital flight
Bank runs
Social unrest
Rampant inflation

They should have never been in in the first place.

I get a beautiful Greek woman to fly to Chicago and cook, clean and put up with my shit.

klinton 05-12-2015 05:11 AM

if they leave, Greek society automatically become poor-er, because of drachma low value at the beginning (like first 5-10 years ?). If I would be Greek and would have money inside Greece now, I would do the following: a) buy usd b) transfer money outside Greece or c) buy gold, land, house etc. Generally speaking - I would stay away from Greek banks as far as possible.
thats the only way to preserve your money's value.

The other people very unhappy would be bank-sters, if Greece will default.
So that could lead to some euro devaluation just at the beginning.

They should get a 10% fee everytime an escort does "greek"
They should charge 100 Euros every time someone does that stupid dance at a party despite never having seen the movie or been to Greece
Borrow $100,000 from every Greek owned business in the US
I'm just trying to help

tsester 06-18-2015 12:52 PM

If they run out of money-> don't have money to pay current debts-> they get no new/more loan-> no money to pay for shit. You know, if you have 1 000 000 employees to pay salaries to, but only 1$, what do you think will happen?

If Greece leave the EuroZone, then OMG for its population : Rampant inflation, political unrest, debt defaults and a possible "contagion" within Europe's financial sector.

The euro would be effectively abandoned, and Greece would return to the drachma, its previous currency (it might take a new name). The drachma would likely tumble in value against the euro as soon as it was issued, and how much the government could print quickly would be a big issue.
European life support for Greek banks would be withdrawn , likely unrest and disorder, Greece would resume economic policymaking, Inflation would spike immediately. :(

They should have left the eurozone a few years ago when shit hit the fan...

So my friends things here are hard but not like media telling u.

Yes the "big" day is this Monday when Eurogroup will discuss only Greek economic problem. If Greece leave EURO zone none knows what happens in Europe... All european countries had debt problem ALL and the "rich" Germany of course.

I don't see the other so "hot" so Greece leave the EU zone... because as they SAID they don't know the future... is something new for them. Also countries like Italy, Spain, Portugal has same problems, maybe thinking that if Greece leave, maybe that countries will be next... so EURO will destroyed, that's why till today support Greece.

But the point is that is a huge bubble! All countries here in EU has problems and huge debts, all they know that... Russia has the gas power and waiting the correct time for biz here in Europe (also China).... USA support Greece but only on words not on moves (money help etc).

Yes if will go out EURO things will be very hard here. Will have new currency "drachma" which is low but also we can have EURO, like today we can own dollars... and we can pay with both currencies.

As I said NONE in EU knows what happen next if Greece left ECONOMIC ZONE and not EUROPEAN ZONE... Greece will still in Europe (of course) but none government wants to gamble on something like that...

On Monday we will have results... my feeling? Greece will find solution with other countries and we will get the money. Have in mind that EU must send us money from 2014 summer... which had signed with previous government... and till today they haven't send them here... we pay from OUR money...
