Wingsuit/base jumper Dean Potter, 43 dead
Extreme athlete Dean S. Potter died over the weekend in a wingsuiting accident in a U.S. National Park in California.
In January, in one of his final long-form interviews, Potter told the National Post?s Joe O?Conner he feared dying while performing a stunt, and being labelled another daredevil felled in his pursuit of the extreme. But that?s exactly what happened when Potter perished during a failed wingsuit flight in Yosemite National Park. Extreme athlete Dean S. Taking his dog along for a wingsuit flight.

Never understood such type of people. If you gonna die - just do it and die already. Why risk with a life of animals that love you and trust you? Stupid mofo finally got a Darwin award.

hell no!
But this would be fun! |
i liked that he took his dog on that wingsuit flight!
that guy did some crazy shit way up high! he lived on the edge, up till he died on the edge. he pushed a lot of boundaries, lost sponsorships on account of some of the crazy things he did. |
It's pretty crazy when an extreme athlete looses sponsors for being too extreme. He definitely took life by the balls and lived it his way.... nothing but props to him!
|
So do we get to see the video at least?

At the start of the vid I thought - damn, this is kinda' wrong. But at the end I thought...what the hell. Looks like the dog had a blast. I wouldn't hold it against the guy. It was all-round epic. |
He lived life on the edge and it caught up to him. Sucks to be him.
|
Died doing what he loved, he knew the risks

They had a pretty good article on him on Nat Geo website yesterday. They said that he started base jumping then wing suit jumping because it too long to climb back down a mountain and was actually safer to jump.. The reason it was safer, was because he climbed with very little equipment, mostly just free climbed so with out ropes it's pretty dangerous to climb back down..
He would also free climb vertical walls wearing a parachute in case he slipped. Doesn't sound like he wanted to die, but he was quite a bit crazier than most.. |
stress is a killer! he burned off his life looking down :2 cents::2 cents:
|
died doing what he likes best
|
Better to die doing something you love then dying from testicular cancer
|
That's living your life to the fullest.

43? wow that is so old for those type of people ... :2 cents:
|
i have been living in chamonix, where most of those people are going, and there is like 3-5 people dying every year just on wingsuits, they put wingsuits as illegal there for two years, after two years they make it legal again, and three wingsuiters died in first two months ... not sure if i want to exchange my life for few tens of hours of adrenaline ... :2 cents:
|
they will go as far as possible, and death is the only limit ... r.i.p. :2 cents:
|
they jumped after dark? jesus

Mostly, to live life. Everyone has one...a life...an opportunity to live and yet most die before they have ever lived. Ask anyone working in a cubicle 9 to 5 Mon - Fri. to pay for the mortgage to a house they hate living with a wife they can't stand to raise kids who hate them so they get 2 weeks off a year to take those hateful kids to Disney world (the most boring place on earth). Those people are already dead...they just don't know it. Some do know it which is actually even worse. That is why he did it...not totally for himself but for those poor fucks who can't. :thumbsup |
Hahahaha... Play with fire, get burned :pimp
|
I've got 3 jumps under my belt and would love to one day fly a wingsuit. Nothing better than jumping out of a perfectly good airplane!
