If they are not tightened properly.

EngineCash 06-08-2015 12:51 AM

I will never understand those guys and this sport... :) You give you time and money for what? :) To see your car explode after a few seconds? :) So stupid...

TCLGirls 06-08-2015 12:58 AM

Torque wrench, buy one.

AdultKing 06-08-2015 01:54 AM

This happened today near Brisbane. Car splits in two, goes airborne.

Crazy stuff.

adultchatpay 06-08-2015 01:55 AM

It literally covered just a quarter mile.

I'm not sure you understand the amount of force being applied, think aprox 10,000 hp in less than 1/4 second :2 cents:

these guys are pushing their cars to the max....right on the edge of total chaos ... remember 100th of a second is the difference between losing or winning, and unlike NBA or MLB you don't get best of 7 :2 cents:

I think I do and I stand by my comment. If tightening properly did not prevent that from happening why doesn't it happen every time a car launches down the track?

What the fuck difference does body style make? The photos still indicate a ton of torque.

I will ask you the same question I asked Brian, it proper tightening of lug nuts did not prevent wheels from flying off, why doesn't EVERY drag race have wheels flying off?

duh??? those are coup the op's version are way thinner. any slight turn of the wheel versus friction the wheels break off.

TCLGirls 06-08-2015 12:46 PM

It's entirely possible that the lug nuts were torqued tight enough to specifications....but the bolts actually broke off with the lugnuts still on them...so the whole wheel/tire came off.

I'm thinking they probably sheared when the car went sideways? the lugs were tightened, if you think they weren't, you have little understanding of the pit process....
