BREAKING NEWS: Pool Party Officer Resigns!

Just days after a video that went viral online showed him yanking a 14-year-old bikini-clad girl to the ground and kneeling on her back, Eric Casebolt has resigned from his post as a corporal for the Police Department in McKinney, Texas.

The video posted to YouTube showing the police response to reports of fighting at a pool party sparked swift allegations of racism. Critics decried the white officer for cursing at several black teenagers, slamming the girl to the ground and unholstering his gun.

Protesters marched on Monday over the incident in the Dallas suburb. Outraged parents demanded the officer's firing.

At a press conference Tuesday announcing Casebolt's resignation, the city's police chief called his actions in the video indefensible.

"Our policies, our training, our practice, do not support his actions," Police Chief Greg Conley said. "He came into the call out of control, and as the video shows, was out of control during the incident." FULL STORY

You think he's gonna get sued now? Will the government cover the cost of his attorneys?

I saw somewhere that he was the vice president of the police union?

Perhaps the police union did something good for once and kicked him out.

That would be newsworthy, I hope they did! Looks like he might still face criminal charges. I wonder if the deal was he resigns, and no charges filed.

Officials previously had said Casebolt was on administrative leave as police investigated what happened. Now that he has decided to resign, the internal affairs investigation is closed, and it's too soon to say whether he'll face charges over what happened, Conley told reporters.

"We're continuing an investigation. We are continuing looking into all the allegations that are being presented to us, and any part of a criminal investigation regarding anyone will take a matter of time for us to work through all those allegations and those people who have come forward to us to complain," he said.

Just talked to my friend who is a cop. Since the department got rid of him right away they can deny that this had anything to do with him which means people who sue will likely have to sue the guy. The police union will help him with a lawyer and he has an insurance policy which could cover any damages, but it is possible that if the settlement or judgement is more than the policy covers he will be liable for it.

I hope not!

Aren't Cops and other government workers protected by lawsuits though?

I'm just going off what he told me. He said had the city tried to protect the guy they could be sued (and they sill might be able to be), but by forcing his resignation it is their way of saying the guy violated their policies and they are not responsible.

I guess we will find out because I am sure lawsuits are coming.

still liable :2 cents::2 cents:

i was the lifeguard in charge of the area a woman drowned in at waterpark. they fired me the next day and claimed i was a rogue guard, they still got sued and paid big. i was never sued and had to testify in the trial.

They will likely get sued. I have no idea if they will lose or not. I am just relaying what I was told. When my buddy became a cop during an union orientation they talked about the union coverage they would have. The person giving the class went on to say if you broke the department's policy and it looked like they could get sued the department would likely fire you right away and disavow your actions so they can claim innocents and dump the entire suit on the officer.

I don't know how often that happens or if it works, but I won't be shocked to see them trying to avoid the case by claiming they dumped his ass and were not responsible for his actions.

Also, with the waterpark, it happened on their property and you likely weren't part of a union that had millions in insurance.

Guy is obviously an unhinged cop and should not be a cop.

But just imagine if Tatiyana had just followed the HOA rules. None of this would have happened. Cop might have gone nuts somewhere else...but this would never have been a story.

Just imagine if the white female had never hit her in the face and started the fight.

Just imagine if they would arrest the white lady for assault on a minor.

Just imagine if you actually read the story and heard her say several times that "those people" were not with her and she followed the rules.

Just imagine if you believed all the witnesses that showed their face on camera instead of hiding like cowards.

Just imagine that you got over your fear of admitting that racist shit happens.

Actually I thought the cow who started the shit with the racial slurs should have been hauled in.

If I had been Tatiyana I would have asked a friend to phone video the whole scene while I called the cops for help. Would have been a better/different result.

Equating following HOA rules to beating a child to death. I'd like to see your Rorschach test results. :upsidedow

There is plenty of video that you don't believe already so you think you need more video to not believe?

It points our your idiocy of blaming the victim with this if A didn't happen then B wouldn't have. Did that go over your head?
