I'm sorry for your loss.

I suggest you spend the time away from GFY though. Maybe go for a walk.

When my best friend died I got drunk for about a week. It hurt but it helped. We also had a wake for him that eased the pain somewhat. He was 48 when he died. Sorry for your loss.

j3rkules 06-11-2015 12:31 PM

If you can spend time with his/her parents :2 cents:. They need you now

wehateporn 06-11-2015 12:51 PM

Watched a relative die a couple of weeks ago, definitely a wake up call

Best wishes!

Diomed 06-11-2015 01:16 PM

Does start making you go off in a dark path. Tread lightly.

I think gfy and forums are a healthy avenue after something like this.. Nice to keep your thoughts shallow.

atom 06-11-2015 02:23 PM

Eddy good luck! Vent away, that's what this place is here for.

Sorry for your loss Eddy. My condolences to you and your family.

Jel 06-11-2015 03:26 PM

Had this a couple of times in the last 18 months... best thing I did was remind myself that the loss was on those left behind, and the mates who had died would be fine wherever they were, or weren't. That helped me not 'feel sorry for myself' (not quite the correct term I know, but closest I could verbalise it) and thus while I was obviously going to miss them, and it was a downer rather than an upper - I was able to deal with both deaths pretty well, with a very quick grieving stage.

Everyone is different of course, so hope you aren't in emotional pain for too long, or if you are then at least don't suffer too much from it :thumbsup

Oh and just to add the obvious, that isn't always so obvious when you are in it: never beat yourself up for any pain you are ever in, it's perfectly natural and needs to be experienced as part of the process of whatever the process is.

Sarah_Jayne 06-11-2015 03:27 PM

I'll come out of posting retirement for a hug. I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I am glad that your mom is near enough to come around.

georgeyw 06-11-2015 03:48 PM

Sorry to hear it bloke. Steer clear of the booze, not going to help you at all.

SilentKnight 06-11-2015 05:03 PM

My condolences for your loss, Eddy.

Take the time to celebrate their life and your friendship.

I'm in LA ..very much wish I was in London as I homesick pretty much everyday but I do like it here if it wasn't for that.

I feel for you. My (soon to be) sister in law lost her cancer battle two weeks ago. Even though it had been a year of her going through every possible treatment it was still wasn't something we had braced ourselves for properly.

I'm getting married on the 20th. Which is a good thing but chaos.

Spunky 06-11-2015 05:28 PM

Rochard 06-11-2015 10:01 PM

Sorry for your loss.

My best friend has been on his death bed pretty much since I've known him, twenty years now. He's had 18 close calls. I saw him last week, still doing everything he could do to ensure he dies soon including smoking those damn cancer sticks. I've been bracing myself for the call for years now.

selena 06-11-2015 10:06 PM

Do you need to see the open casket with a GFY sign on the body? - After all it could be any old funeral...

Fucking asshole.....
