Anyone recommend me some good pirate movies?
 

I know it sounds like a troll, but its not - Theres no other way to put it.

The Pirates of the Caribbean movies with Johnny Depp are all fine and dandy, but still Disney and naturally childish.

So any good pirate movies out there? All suggestions welcome.

The story is a tragedy, as the pirates who after all, were simply making a living in the only way they knew. It wasn't even a profitable living, just a traditional, but dying, occupation.

The Island with Michael Caine from 1980. A band of insane pirates has remained in isolation on an island for years and prey on unsuspecting ships that happen into their territory. Pretty cool flick, although it doesn't hold up quite as good today as I remember as a kid.

Black Sails on Starz. Good series about the politics of the pirate business.

There also blackbeard TV show as well not as good but worth to watch if u got time to kill

Serious or silly?

Try 'Yellowbeard'. It has lots of the Monty Python cast & Cheech & Chong so if you like that comedy you'll probably like the movie.

And whatever you do, DO NOT see Cutthroat Island.
