Cop's bullet misses dog and hits 4 yr old girl

A four-year-old girl was struck by a stray police bullet after an officer missed when he shot at a charging 40-lb dog.

The Columbus officer, who has also not been identified, was investigating a hit-and-run case when he heard cries for help from a nearby home regarding the girl's mother, who had cut herself, Columbus Police Department spokeswoman, Denise Alex-Bouzounis said.
When the officer tried to enter the home to provide help, the family's mixed-breed dog charged at him in the doorway.
He fired off a shot but missed as the bullet accidentally struck the girl instead, NBC4 reported.

Overtaking Mr. monkey's cop news reporting ? :winkwink:

As you read the various witness statements it becomes clear that they didn't know that shooting any dog that moves and barks at them is standard everyday procedure. You can see them saying stuff like he's a big guy, he has a taser etc etc as if NOT shooting the dog was an option. They should open up a newspaper or website once in a while.

You call a cop over and your big dog is not restrained? That was a death sentence for the dog right there... In a way, less got hurt because he can't hit the broad side of a barn at point blank.

Just saying, but that was in a really shitty suburb called Whitehall, not Columbus, where cops don't go most areas after dark because there are "too many bloods and don't know what to do since all of the Crips are dead already." -Columbus cop.

I guess this happened somewhere in 3-rd world place like Somalia, Albania or Columbia. Can't happen in a civilized country.

P.S. I didn't read the article, just the title. So my guess is just a guess :2 cents:

Heh, hold on, so the guy got scared of a 40lb dog?? That's some 18kg - a normal sized cat is like 8-9kg...

40 pounds isn't a "big dog" and most people don't shoot dogs that bark at them.

Doesn't have to be a big dog, I saw one video where the cop shot a dog that weighed 10lbs max.

To serve and protect is out the fucking window!!!!
