Gothic Punk Fandom Kickstarter and Amelia G from SpookyCash in a Leather Video

Now that I've got the hang of this collectible books thing, I am jonesing to do another one. Today I launched a Kickstarter for a BLT Punk Humor Book 25 Year Black Leather Times Zine Omnibus.

BLT was my first publishing project as an adult. My friends and I did it from various different punk rock group houses. It is hilarious as fuck, especially if you've ever spent time in dark smokey clubs or science fiction conventions and related haunts. It was distributed primarily at sex shops, punk boutiques, SF&F and RPG conventions, and in the aforementioned dark smokey clubs.

I used to get a lot of letters from people who assumed a zine called Black Leather Times was a porn or fetish mag of some sort because it had leather in the title. Especially after it got written up in The Washington Post and such, so a lot of people from very far afield heard about it. So I thought about what sort of adult mag I'd like to be producing, as there seemed to be a demand, and I started publishing Blue Blood magazine in print. Which, of course, eventually led to SpookyCash and its suite of spooky naughty membership sites you all know.

Please check out my Kickstarter and let me know what you think :)

It lacks text.

I often find it easer to read the text rather than listen to the vids.

What do you mean about lacking text? I made a video because Kickstarter recommends it, but I would think the text is the main thing. How much more text could it reasonably have?

If there's a little wheel on your mouse, try scrolling the wheel downwards (toward you) to see more of the page.

Thanks. Makes sense with your nick :) The first time I heard of Nitzer Ebb was in a nightclub I frequented when I asked someone hot about their NE shirt. The ones with just the giant NE. The way we found out about music back in ye olden tymes :thumbsup

Thanks! Those Ambush Interviews were so much fun. Sleazy asked different questions from the usual and I think he got more of people's personalities in his interviews because of it :thumbsup

Didn't think anyone did zines any more. We all use to make them in the 80's.

I think the 90's were the real heyday of the zine revolution because of where desktop publishing tech suddenly got to.

This project is BLT's 25 year anniversary collection, so that is kind of the timeline.

I'd say that a lot of sites and blogs and even social media profiles are very similar to old skool xines, wouldn't you?

Where were those published out of geographically? I used to trade ads and zines with tons of other zinesters.

nico-t 07-03-2015 03:41 AM

i have no idea what that is, but good luck anyway.

Mobius Matt 07-03-2015 11:02 AM

Four days for another $1100;
that's tight - a little bump for good luck.

Thanks! This one is a nailbiter for sure. At 83% now, though, so I am cautiously optimistic that it will hit the goal.
