Phoenix Police officer Timothy Morris admits sexual conduct with woman he was reportedly arresting
PHOENIX - A Phoenix Police officer has been arrested for sexual conduct with a 23-year-old woman under arrest Friday.
According to the police department, 40-year-old Timothy Morris was taken into custody by Phoenix Police near his home in Pinal County Friday night.
A woman contacted police Friday morning, claiming that she had been a victim of sexual misconduct involving one of their officers.
Investigators responded to the woman's claim and determined that the officer had engaged in sexual contact with the woman while conducting a misdemeanor arrest warrant around 3:30 a.m. near 5600 W. Thomas Road.
After the incident, the officer let the woman go without arrest, police say.
Morris admitted to his involvement in the incident and resigned from the Phoenix Police Department. He has been an officer with the department since 2008.
He was arrested on one count of sexual assault and one count of kidnapping. Morris was booked into the Pinal County Jail while awaiting a transfer of his case to Maricopa County.
