Should I Stick With Ubuntu or buy Windows?

Should I Stick With Ubuntu or buy Windows? My brother gave me a nice motherboard and graphics card. I bought a box and 750 power supply. Got everything running nice with Ubuntu Desktop.

My only concern is hidden key loggers and stuff like in the OS. I have never really trusted Open Source Operating Systems enough to check my bank account online.

Do you trust Microsoft and google more?

As long as you got the distribution files from an official source you should be good!

On the other hand, Windows is fantastic! I have done some configurations today on a server and it is amazing how well it works and how wast the documentation is. I am blown away!

Dual boot, work on Ubuntu and play on Windows :winkwink:

Linux is a shitty desktop OS. Ditch it and get Windows.

make sure you buy your copy from ms and not from other sources and dont use free/test os copies, they have keylogger preinstalled in it.

Thanks for the advise. Gonna go ahead and get Window on my 500 gig hard drive. Put Kali on my 150 gig hard drive. I kind of want to try my hand streaming on twitch. Really like to get the new Microsoft Flight Simulator. It looks amazing.

I was running ubuntu (Xubuntu) on two Workstation, but ended up installing Windows again for the GPU acceleration. I still use Ubuntu, but I run them as Virtual mashines on our cluster, and use Xrdp to Work on it like a terminal server. The Project, Grunt Work, timetracker is a combination I cant live without, and Works a lot better for me, to just have it running on a cluster 24/7 without having my desktup turned on.

In case you want to test Xrdp, keep in mind it dont Work with Gnome or Unity. Gotta use Xubuntu or Lubuntu to get it working on a debian distro.

I used to agree with you, until I found out about elementary OS

It's a visually appealing Ubuntu meant to appease the Mac crowd. It really shouldn't be its own distribution.

There's nothing comparable to MS Office or any part of Adobe CS. There are open source alternatives but they're just not good at all. That said, for writing code, I use Linux heavily. My workflow involves using tmux so I can tail multiple logs, shoot the shit in IRC (weechat) and actively code with vim all in one window.

I'm not a Linux hater BTW. I am a Linux administrator and long time member of the Linux Foundation. I love Linux but it's really a server OS.

Windows is a lot more popular, and it is better for a regular desktop computer, or a notebook, I think.

I dunno - it's the most impressive UI/Desktop I've seen since Crunchbang (RIP), although that required far too much backend/config-file tweaking to be "usable".

A linux machine is a powerful tool to have. And I dont mean Apple.
