wait 5 years, then see how it was finally the catalyst for real change in politics, then follow suit. At least that's I'm how I'm hoping it pans out in the UK.

As an aside, I can't help noticing that voters/people are so obsessed with the minutiae of eg whether Trump photoshopped his own pics, that it's no surprise most politicians are also more obsessed with every 'gotcha' they can possibly grab, rather than deal with actual issues.

It truly boggles my mind to see the fucking charade that is PM's question time in the UK, and the huge mismatch between achieving 'gotchas' that are so ridiculous in their worth, and the trumpeting that goes on after when that 'gotcha' is awarded, both by the fellow MPs, and the idiots who think their 'side' has just acheived something.

From what I see on this board I can only assume it's the same in the US/Canada. Something drastic needs to happen to change the joke that is politics, and I for one am hoping this culminates in being such a catalyst.

Trumps lead in the polls is misleading. He represents an extremist section of conservatives. He'll never garner over 20% of polls.

Politics is ALL about the money, it'll be Jeb Bush vs. Hilary Clinton. It'll be a close one too. Bush will have a slight lead in money but Hilary is sheltered by the media.

Don't underestimate voters being fed up with career politicians.

Very true but the man is just ridiculous. Sure we don't have the kinda educated voter (when it comes to the actual candidates and issues) as we used to, but I refuse to believe the republicans would nominate an ass clown like Trump.

I mean the hair alone... lol

the Donald is not a right winger guys. he's pals with hillary & has said as many left wing things before as he says right wing things today. He would likely be moderate in his presidency. he may be a closet populist when you read his comments on trade with china. he wants to literally have a trade war with china. He's a northeastern country club wall street repub, not a christian one.

:2 cents:

The vast majority of Canadian professional hockey players are born between January-March.

You're welcome.

Unfortunately you're right. Trump is a joke, but Scott Walker is one dangerous SOB. A vote for him is a vote for the Kochs for sure.

This is very accurate. The polls among the republicans is counting likely republican voter. This means people that will vote in the republican primary which means they are registered republicans which only make up about 25% of the population. So he is getting 17% of 25% of the voters.

When the poll expands to including Hillary. Bush is actually very close with it 46%-42% in favor of Clinton while Trump is way behind 51% - 34% in favor of Clinton.

So some registered republicans like him, but nationally he doesn't do nearly as well.

This could all change, but I don't know that it will. One thing many candidates have going for them is that they are unknown nationally so they can count on people getting to know them as the campaign goes on. Everyone knows who Trump is and most already have formed an opinion on him.
