It Follows

Best horror movie I've seen in... a long time.

Feels like a horror movie made for real horror movie fans.

Enjoy.

J. Falcon 07-15-2015 09:31 PM

Man I just finished watching this and I'm tense as fuck. Have felt this freaked out in forever lol.

Bladewire 07-15-2015 10:28 PM

That movie kicked ass.

I'm sorry to have read they're talking about a sequel.

xFoundry 07-15-2015 11:42 PM

I've seen this one on TV yesterday, and it was good:

The movie is actually like 18 years old, at this point. I've seen it on YouTube too:

Yeah that is a good flick.

lagwagon 07-16-2015 06:18 AM

I did like the idea. It was fresh.

But overall it felt a bit too preachy in teaching teenagers about abstaining from sex.

That Keir Gilchrest kid does a great job in this movie.

I doubt it had anything to do with abstaining from sex. That thought didn't cross my mind once, actually.

Really? It felt like one big STD commercial to me. The girl had sex with the infected guy, then spent the rest of the movie trying to get rid of the extraterrestrial STD she caught by having sex with other people.

Never had one of those dreams?? I used to have that kind of nightmares when I was younger...

Well then it could have been about safe sex, and not abstinence from sex.

Either way it scared the shit of me.

The director said the movie is what it would feel like to be stuck in a nightmare, with a problem that has no solution.

Ah I could see this for sure. I will admit, I do find myself creeped out about it. hehe

bronco67 07-16-2015 10:18 AM

I've been waiting for that one to hit video. Should be able to see it in a couple of weeks.

That chick is a pretty good actress and was in a great flick called The Guest.

Yeah she is a good actress, but the whole cast was on point and believable. I spent most of today thinking about this movie I watched last night. That's a sign that not only did I like it, but it broke into my list of favorite movies.

mineistaken 07-16-2015 05:40 PM

I do not get why people like to get scared.
Although, I admit, I watch some horror flick once in a while. I guess I have tendencies to masochism, because why else should I choose to be scared, especially when watching it alone.
I bet there are many psychological studies about this paradox.

Vacares 07-16-2015 06:18 PM

I'm not really into horror movies, but this looks pretty interesting. Might check it out when it is released on DVD/Blu-ray. Anyone know when that will be?

NEW RELEASES

CDSmith 07-17-2015 07:17 AM

Budget was only $2 mil. Tons of reviews and a fairly high score on IMDB, done with little known actors.

Sounds like whomever directed knew what they were doing. Will watch. (would have watched anyway, but now I'm looking forward to it that much more)

CDSmith 07-17-2015 07:21 AM

"People who liked It Follows also liked..."

The Babadook (2014)
A single mother, plagued by the violent death of
her husband, battles with her son's fear of a
monster lurking in the house, but soon discovers
a sinister presence all around her.

Anyone know anything about this one?

Babadook is great. A creepy horror movie with a good emotional subtext that will hit you in the feels....hard. On the surface it seems like a horror movie, but it's really about something.

iSpyCams 07-17-2015 11:41 AM

I thought it had a lot of potential for a porn parody. The whole "fuck somebody to get rid of it" mechanic and all.

jscott 07-17-2015 01:05 PM

I liked it, I love horror, cant say i LOVED it, but i did like it :)

Thanks. :thumbsup

Bryan G 07-17-2015 01:51 PM

I love horror films but 99% of them are shit. Looking forward to checking this out now.

Sorry to hear that as well, definitely not a franchise piece. This was a incredible experience when I saw it in the theater. The audio was unreal. It was also the first time I have seen a grown man sitting next to me lean forward covering his mouth with both hands the entire time.

Check out 'We Are Still Here', very Fulci influenced, acting isn't on the level of It Follows, but still, very welcomed with so much shit horror.

I thought Babadook sucked btw, not worth the watch.

bronco67 07-17-2015 07:48 PM

Imagine if Alfred Hitchcock and Brian DePalma fucked and had a baby. That's who this filmmaker is.

Great flick. I was in awe of the music, editing, photography, acting.

Thanks for the tip! I remember the previous and kind of brushed it off, but now I think I'll check it out.

I felt like I was stuck in a nightmare of not getting a refund on the movie rental.

MILD SPOILERS BELOW

I think the dread was kind of ruined when they tried to physically fight it. Up until that point I was really creeped the fuck out, but "it" lost its fright factor after that scene. But I still loved it overall, and mainly because of the cinematic qualities -- not so much how scary it was or wasn't. The movie looked beautiful, had some simple, natural dialogue and there was a some camera work that made me stop and rewind a couple of times. And the score put me right back in the late 70's early 80's.

It had some stuff to say about male/female relationships. The pretty girl will always go for the douchey guy, even when her friend zone captive would be willing to catch a curse just to fuck her. And the little chump was happy to be cursed along with her, just so he could be her boyfriend.

We Are Still here was Pretty good Too, but It Follows is on a whole other level filmmaking wise. I'll watch any movie this guy makes from now on.
