HAHA George Lucus...

Lucus wanted to build a new studio for his company in Marion County, but the wealthy community pushed back and denied him.. Now he decided to push back and is building an 224 unit affordable housing project with his own money..

Cost for the project will be around 135 million. 224 units will be built averaging $603,000. per unit for "affordable housing. Only in California.

It's funny how when I go to other areas and I look at how much houses cost I'm like "Damn, everything is so cheap".

It will be "affordable" because Lucas won't be charging market rates (if he rents the units out), or demanding fair market value (if he sells the units). It will all be much lower. So if he goes through with the plan, he intends to lose money, just to spite the community.

Yea, it's pretty fucked. But that's the way it goes, location, location, location.. I'd imagine 500k of each units cost is the property.

Yea, it's amazing you can go to some of the suburbs around Austin for example and buy a house for under $100k. Granted it's not gonna be a McMansion but still a decent house for an average family.. Then you come to suburbs of Denver and everything is $300k and up..

It was same up in New England.. You could buy up duplexes and even 4 plexes 5 years ago in the $80 to 150k range all day long. They would then rent for and average of $700 per unit.

Give it time, the prices will go down when they start running out of water, which is slated for sometime around 2050. Same with Vegas and other major cities of the West.. They are all on borrowed time.

In the mean time it's a nice place to visit..as long as you stick close to the front range.. As some areas can be pretty shady.. Honestly though anything that isn't close to the foothills and the mountains kinda sucks.

Don't let Lucas fool you into thinking he actually gives a shit about low income families. This is just a big FU to the rich community that denied his studio being built there. There was an article in the 90s that listed Lucas as being a real prick and one of the less giving celebs ever as he hardly gives to charities despite his massive wealth and residual profits from the star wars licensing right. His greed and viciousness knows no bounds. He is a not Mr Rogers. And this latest thing shows the type of character he is. Instead of accepting the fact that the community didn't want his studio there, which makes sense, he could have just swallowed the decision, sold the property and move on, he resorts to childish antics like this.

Don't worry, I'm not fooled into thinking he likes poor people. It's just very funny and awesome way to get back at other uppity pricks.

Had housing been anywhere near realistic I'd be living in Newport Beach now. Had to turn down a job in CA because housing is 3x what I pay now :1orglaugh
