We had thunderstorms a couple hundred miles south of you on Sunday.

In July! :1orglaugh

In California! :1orglaugh

I lived the first 34 years of my life here in California and remember exactly one thunderstorm before I moved to the East Coast, I was 5 years old and I remember it clearly because it terrified me at the time.

If there were any others I don't remember them, only that first one.

Then Sunday afternoon it got hot, like Florida hot, and really humid. It's been warm since then but cooling off a little.

I wonder if it's going to be the kind of heavy rain year like one when I was a little kid, a group of young guys in my parent's church took canoes from Bakersfield to San Francisco on the Kern and the San Joaquin Rivers and a couple of overflow canals in Tulare County, around a 300 mile canoe trip.
(and I had to sit through the whole slide-show)

I don't think the water's flowed all that way since then.
